"I'm sorry Kira."
"Katsuki stop it. You need to stay down, you've done enough please-"
"There's a pattern to his movements... I can see it... I still have... One more move left in me." Bakugou thought. Blood dropped to the ground as he stood up. Kira could see that his vision was going blurry, she couldn't tell if it was from his injuries, or if it was because he was crying.
"No stop you don't have to do this!" Kira pleaded, crying and covering her mouth. Aizawa let her hold his arm tightly, but he didn't fully realize what she was experiencing. She didn't explain to him why her eyes were glowing red, and he couldn't turn to get a better look at her.
"...yes I do... You know I do..." Bakugou told her. "Damn it... Why does she have to be here... I thought she wouldn't see it... It's not fair."
"Katsuki please. Please let Jeanest help you." Kira begged him.
"I'm sorry Kira... But I can't... I can't let him win... Even if I don't defeat him with this... I'll never forgive myself if I don't give this my all."
"KATSUKI STOP YOU'LL DIE." Kira sobbed. Whispering to herself as she watched him walk forward. Ignoring her requests.
"I don't want to hurt you Kira... But... I can't let him win... Even if I do survive... I'd rather die and have you safe... Then live in the world he'll create." He thought, building up the explosions for his next attack.
His heartbeat started to pick up as he prepared for action. Kira felt desperate. She was terrified and angry and distraught that he was being so stubborn. That he was doing this even though everyone around him was telling him to stop.
Kira sobbed. Why did he have to be so damn heroic?! Why couldn't he just sit this out? At least wait a few minutes to get sewed up by Jeanest.
"Damn Deku... He always had such shitty timing. I have... To buy him more time."
"Katsuki please..." Kira's voice in his mind was barely a whisper.
"I'm so... So sorry Kira... Please... Promise me you'll look away." He requested. "Promise me you wont watch whatever happens..."
"Katsuki..." Kira trembled. She wanted to beg him, to plead with him until he gave up. But... But that would only make him feel worse. He was doing this because he knew it was what he had to do. Despite her pleading him to stop.
"Look down... You should be able to see the coast and shit... What a view, the ocean. Japan. You know most people will never get the opportunity to see it from this high up... Not in person. It's beautiful isn't it?"
He wanted her to look away. Away from him as he prepared his attack. One that could be his last. He knew it, and he was willing to make that sacrifice.
"Look at it... Look at Japan. There are so many people out there and they're counting on us... I know It hurts... But I have to fight. For them... For my family... For our friends... I have to fight... For you."
Kira looked out at the scenery. Looking past the ocean that was getting fiercer. The weather was taking a turn. Getting rougher, the clouds gathered. It looked like it might rain.
She looked at the crumbling cities. At the empty ditch where UA used to sit. Before they turned it into this Tomb. This coffin in the sky.
Millions of people where out there. The Bakugou's... Eri... Her uncle... The other pros and students that were fighting... Everyone was out there. If Shigaraki got his way it would all be flattened. The land, the mountains. The animals. The people. The homes. The hospitals. The heroes. The civilians. The men. The woman. The children.
All of it.
Kira looked out at the mountains. The lakes and rivers that she could see. The homes. Homes like her childhood one. The graves. Like the ones her parents rested in.
"Do your best Katsuki..." Kira told him softly. Her hair was blowing in the wind as she looked over Japan. Tears rolling down her cheeks as she told him. Almost like she was giving him permission.
She could hear the explosions start as he began his assault. She couldn't see what he was doing. How he was doing it. She kept her eyes open, refusing to look through his. She obeyed his wish. Looking out at Japan, reminding herself what all of this was for. Why he was doing this.
This was bigger than him.
This was for everyone. Not just their friends or their school. It was more than just protecting their country. It was the world, Shigaraki wouldn't stop until all of it was crumbling in his palm. Other countries around the globe were already preparing to surrender to him once he got their way.
The heroes of Japan were the world's last hope. Before he took One for all and became more powerful than anyone could ever handle.
"I love you Kira Kokoa... So fucking much."
As He told her Kira couldn't see what was going on. She could hear explosions in the distance. Every part of her wanted to watch, but she knew she would regret it. She knew it wasn't what he wanted. It would only make things so much worse.
"I love you too... Katsuki Bakugou..." Kira thought back. She didn't know if it worked. She knew that she could feel the emotions of others. Especially while she was using bloodrush. She had no reason to believe it worked the other way.
But then again... Bakugou had managed to vaguely sense her presence earlier. So maybe... Just maybe... He could feel her emotions too. Just like she could. She looked at the coast of Japan. At the cities on the verge of collapse. But she focused her emotions. Trying to make him feel a sort of contentment. Happiness. Nostalgia. Love. Affection. Kira forced herself to hold these emotions above her sorrow. Hoping that Bakugou would feel it, that it would fuel his attack. That at this moment... He would keep his characteristic arrogance.
She didn't want him to be scared. Or hesitant. Or sad. She wanted him to be as cocky as ever. To be happy and proud.
There was a loud explosion.
Bump bump...
Another. His heart beat with it. He was so focused he didn't have many thoughts anymore. Other than when to dodge. Another explosion.
Bump bump... Babump... Bump-
Silence.
Pure agonizing silence. From the battlefield... From his mind... From his heart.
A loud voice rang in Kira's ear. A high pitched scream, it was loud and horrible full of desperation...
It took Kira a few moments to realize the scream was her own.
Bakugou's heart wasn't beating. She knew because she was supposed to be able to hear it. Even from this distance. She sobbed, when she closed her eyes she saw nothing. No heartbeat, no thoughts, no sight.
Katsuki... Her Katsuki. Her sunset...
Was dead.
