(Exit Music (For A Film) • Radiohead)
The woman suddenly jumped up. Completely seething, she turned towards her paralyzed son. Seungmin stared back at her with fearful eyes.
"You forgot to close the door?!" She yelled at him. Seungmin seemed to shrink in size. He looked shocked.
"What?" He asked in a small voice. He took a step back.
"Seungmin," Chan spoke up, much softer but urgency lacing his voice as well. "did you close the portal or door or whatever you want to call it before you went inside?" He asked. The woman anxiously eyed the place the group had arrived from earlier. She shifted her weight onto her left leg and nervously fiddled with her fingers. Her calm and controlling demeanour had completely switched to a crazed and fidgety one.Seungmin shook his head a little confusedly. He then looked at the ground and shrugged his shoulders. Chan released a shaky breath. "Seungmin, this is important." He said as he slowly felt himself losing his calmness.
Seungmin shook his head. "Otherwise we had to leave people behind." He mumbled. Jeongin threw his hands in the air. He sighed desperately, on the point of throwing a fit.
"No!" He exclaimed panicky. "The door closes half a minute after you remove the key, Seungmin, did you leave the key in?" Jeongin asked anxiously. Seungmin was trembling. He nodded. The woman let out a crazed scream in frustration.
"I decided to give you free will for ten seconds!" She exclaimed. "And you manage to fucking mess up again!" She chuckled grimly. Seungmin shrunk in his position even more.
The woman suddenly walked over to her son. With mad strides she slowly lifted up her hand, the shield around her glitching as she went right through it.
A loud slap echoed through the room.Seungmin looked at his mother in shock. Although he could've expected it, it still hurt. He grabbed his cheek.
"M-mother?" He said shakily. His eyes were wide open.
"If you had kept that fucking chip in your neck I'd kill you right now." The woman spat at him before turning back around."Well!" She chuckled crazily. "Thanks to Seungmin over here, we're all going to die!" She laughed crazily.
Jun-ho's eyes widened. "Is she talking about the Guardian?" He turned to Chan. Chan nodded. Jun-ho's mouth shut tight in fear.
"The Guardian?" Jisung asked. "What's that?"
"You remember the huge black monster with tentacles and stuff?" Jun-ho spoke nervously. His parents nodded. "That's the Guardian." He gulped. "The only thing is, she doesn't know the difference between the Higher Authorities and the contestants.""It won its own will at some point." The woman said. She suddenly looked absolutely insane. Another ear-splitting scream from the monster rang through the room. This one sounded like it was struggling.
"A will of its own, and a dangerous one at that." Jeongin said. "She didn't respond to our orders anymore. The only thing she knows how to do is destroy everything that comes close to her dear 'entrance'." He sighed.
The woman swayed around for a moment, almost looking drunk, before she stood up straight again. She had gotten closer to the entrance of the lab, but no one really noticed. Except maybe Seungmin, but he didn't speak up about it.
Felix felt confused. "But then what are we doing here?" He asked, looking at the woman. She chuckled.
"An experiment." The woman answered, as if the answer was obvious. "I decided to use my useless excuse of a son to trick a few people and lead them to the lab, where we would examine their minds and eventually get rid of them.""But because of someone that plan suddenly had the potential to fail." She eyed Seungmin, who looked back down at his feet. He was honestly trying his best not to cry. He had betrayed the man he loved for nothing after all.
