(Fallen Down • Toby Fox)

"Son, have I ever told you about the games of the Monster's Labyrinth?" Hyunjin's father asked him. He was tucking in his six year old son. He leaned over to peck the boy's forehead before sitting back into his comfortable padded chair. He let his body sink into the soft cushions as he made himself comfortable.

"No, dad." Hyunjin said, shaking his head curiously. He had heard about the story before but the content has never been revealed to him. He knew that it was some kind of game were people were kidnapped and something else he didn't remember.

"Can you tell me about it?" He started whipping excitedly with his feet as he was excited to hear his dad's bedtime story.

"Hmm..." His dad said. He seemed to be thinking about whether he should tell his son or not. "I don't know, Jin. It's actually pretty scary." His dad said, scrunching his eyebrows together. "Maybe you will get nightmares..."

Hyunjin trashed his legs dramatically on the bed. "I'm a big boy!" He pouted. His dad smiled at the cute interaction of his son. "I can handle it!"

Hyunjin's dad ruffled the boy's hair and chuckled. "You're indeed a big boy." He sighed. "Ok, are you ready?" His dad said, as if they'd be going on a huge adventure. Hyunjin stopped trashing his legs at once and listened intently to his father.

"The games of the Monster's Labyrinth is a game where one hundred contestants are placed inside a huge building, while only one can leave the building again." Hyunjin's eyes widened. "One hundred?" He gasped. Those were a lot of people to Hyunjin. He barely even knew a hundred people.

Hyunjin das nodded. "It indeed is. Now be quiet otherwise I'll never get to finish my story!" Hyunjin's dad playfully pinched the giggling boy's cheek, smiling contently at his son.

Hyunjin shut his mouth tight, eager to hear the rest of the story.

"Those hundred people would be kidnapped out of their daily life and dropped into a huge building. There they would be introduced to the rules of the game."

"What are those rules, dad?" Hyunjin asked excitedly. His father fell silent for a moment. A gloomy expression covering his face for a second. I'm a quick second he regained his previous composure and smiled softly.
"Don't worry son, that's not important."

"But dad then why is this story scary?" Hyunjin asked, he was again trashing his legs in the mattress, but this time because he was extremely agitated to hear the rest of the story.

Hyunjin's dad went silent again. The boy realised his dad had been completely zoned out for a moment, staring at the wall while and at the same time not focusing on anything. A pained expression appeared on his face for a moment. Six year old Hyunjin had no idea what was going on with his dad.

"Dad?" He asked, a bit taken aback at the sudden silence of his father. He had no idea how to deal with this.
"Son, go to sleep." His dad said. The young Hyunjin felt confused as he noticed the tears in the elder's eyes.

Suddenly his dad stood up from his chair. The chair scraped over the floor which made the young boy flinch from the loud sound. "Go to sleep." He said again, walking towards the door of Hyunjin's bedroom.

Hyunjin was left in confusion as he saw the door of his bedroom close.

Hyunjin's dad just couldn't say it. He couldn't. He couldn't bring up those memories.

If he'd continue he'd burst out in tears right in front of his son, and he didn't want that.

If he'd continue he'd surely traumatise his son for sure.
