Author's POV
Morning finally arrived.
The first rays of sunlight slipped through the hospital windows, filling the once-dark corridors with light.
Mr. Lee and Taehyung were still sitting outside the ICU.
Neither of them had slept all night.
As the morning shift began, the doctor entered the ICU to examine Y/N.
He carefully checked her vitals, blood pressure, heart rate, and other reports.
A few minutes later, he came out.
Taehyung immediately stood up.
"How is she now?"
"She's out of danger," the doctor replied, "but she's still unconscious."
Taehyung nodded.
Beside him, Mr. Lee let out a relieved sigh.
At least...
Her life was no longer in danger.
Taehyung took out his phone and texted Jungkook.
Taehyung: She's out of danger. Where are you?
A few seconds later, a reply came.
Jungkook: Fire exit.
Taehyung slipped his phone back into his pocket.
He looked at Mr. Lee.
"Sir, would you like something to eat?"
"Nothing. Thank you," Mr. Lee replied quietly.
Taehyung left the waiting area and walked toward the fire-exit staircase.
Just as Jungkook had said...
He was still there.
Sitting on the stairs.
In the exact same position.
"Hey," Taehyung greeted.
No response.
"You should eat something."
"She's better now."
"Not until I see her smiling."
"But—"
"Please..."
"Leave me alone."
Taehyung sighed.
He knew there was no point forcing him.
So he quietly walked away.
A few minutes later...
He returned to the waiting area with a cup of coffee and a pack of rice cakes.
"Sir."
Mr. Lee looked up.
"Please have something."
"No..."
"I don't need anything."
"If she wakes up and sees you like this..."
"She won't like it."
"You need your strength."
"Please."
Mr. Lee looked toward the ICU.
"Not until I see her."
