After Midnight

It was almost 2:00 a.m.

Taehyung woke up feeling thirsty and walked to the kitchen for some water.

As he passed by, he noticed Jungkook standing on the balcony.

Quietly, he walked over and stood beside him without making a sound.

Jungkook kept staring at the sky.

He was about to say something when he suddenly turned.

"Oh! You scared me," he said, placing a hand on his chest.

"I came to get some water, but then I saw you here."

"What are you doing?"

"I couldn't sleep, so I came outside."

"The breeze feels nice."

"I just decided to stand here for a while."

"The sky looks beautiful tonight..."

"The stars..."

"The moon..."

Taehyung looked at him for a moment.

"There isn't any moon tonight."

Jungkook looked up instinctively.

Only then did he realize...

There really wasn't.

Taehyung sighed.

"Look..."

"I know you're not in the right state to explain anything."

"But at least don't lie."

He turned to leave.

"Do you think..."

"She'll ever forgive me?"

Jungkook asked quietly.

His voice cracked slightly.

But he tried to hide it.

Taehyung stopped.

"How would I know?"

"Let her wake up first."

"We're going to see her tomorrow morning."

"You can ask her then."

Jungkook lowered his head.

He didn't reply.

"Do you need anything?" Taehyung asked.

Jungkook shook his head.

"No."

"I'm just feeling sleepy."

"I think I'll sleep for a while."

He quietly walked back to his room.

Taehyung watched him leave.

He genuinely wanted to help his best friend.

It was 8:00 a.m.

Jungkook woke up and walked straight to the balcony.

Taehyung was already there, sipping his tea.

"Good morning."

"Morning."

Taehyung smirked.

"The moon doesn't come out during the day."

"Shut up."
