One Day

"Y/N, have you seen my phone? I don't know where I left it," Mr. Lee said, searching the coffee table, the sofa, and even underneath the furniture.

"Appa, not again," she said, making a face.

"What happened now?" Mr. Lee asked in confusion.

"Did you put your phone on silent or vibrate mode? I've tried calling it three times, but I couldn't hear anything," she said.

"Maybe I put it on silent while I was watching a movie last night..." Mr. Lee muttered, continuing his search.

"Did you check your bedroom?" she asked.

"I did, but would you mind checking it again for me? I'll keep looking here," Mr. Lee said.

Y/N nodded and went upstairs.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lee continued searching through the drawers one by one.

Then he opened one of the drawers and found a small, wrapped box.

Curious, he opened it.

Inside was the watch Y/N had bought for him.

He stared at it for a moment and immediately understood why she hadn't given him the present that day.

"Appa, I found it!" Y/N called from upstairs. "It's under your pillow, right where you usually sleep."

She came downstairs and stopped when she noticed the watch in his hand.

Mr. Lee looked at her.

"Did you buy this for me?"

"Yes," she replied softly.

"Then why didn't you give it to me that day?" he asked.

"I didn't want to upset you," she said, looking down.

Mr. Lee sighed.

"I always hurt you unintentionally."

"No, Appa. You never hurt me," she said, placing her hand over his.

"Now, put this on me," Mr. Lee said, handing her the watch.

Y/N looked at him in confusion.

"So, you're going to wear two watches from now on?"

"No," he said with a chuckle. "You bought this one for me, so this one is mine. And the other one is for my future son-in-law. So, I'll give this to Taehyung."

He said it proudly.

Y/N helped him put on the new watch and then looked down silently.

"There was no need for that," she said quietly. "You could have exchanged it for a different color or model and kept both."

Mr. Lee looked at her carefully.

"Can I ask you something?"

She looked at him and forced a smile.

"Yes."

"Did you two have a fight?"

She shook her head without looking at him.

"Ever since I announced your engagement, you haven't seemed happy," he continued.

Y/N took a deep breath.

For a moment, she remained silent.

Then she finally broke the silence.

"Appa, I like him, but only as a friend. I don't want to marry him."
