"I've only wanted my father."
Mr. Jeon's eyes immediately filled with tears.
"I know."
"No, you don't."
Jungkook's voice trembled.
"If you knew, you wouldn't have kept pushing me away."
"I was afraid."
Jungkook stared at him in confusion.
"Afraid of what?"
"Losing you."
Jungkook went completely silent.
Mr. Jeon swallowed hard.
"After your mother left, I was terrified. I didn't know how to raise you. I didn't know how to be both your father and your mother."
He wiped the tears gathering in his eyes.
"So I convinced myself that if I gave you enough money... enough security... enough opportunities..."
His voice cracked.
"...maybe you wouldn't notice everything I couldn't give you."
Jungkook lowered his gaze.
"I noticed."
"I know."
Another heavy silence settled between them.
Jungkook's eyes became wet.
His father slowly leaned forward.
"I can't change the past, Jungkook."
He took a shaky breath.
"But if you'll let me..."
"I want to be your father now."
A tear slipped down his cheek.
"I never told her to leave. I never said anything to make her go away."
Mr. Jeon's voice trembled.
He lowered his head, struggling to control his emotions.
"I don't even know where she went... or why she left."
His voice cracked.
"I spent years believing that she chose to leave us. But the truth is..."
He wiped the tears from his face.
"I never got an answer."
Jungkook stared at him, stunned.
"You are...you are not lying?"
Mr. Jeon slowly shook his head.
"No."
His eyes filled with tears again.
"I looked for her. I searched everywhere I could. I tried to find out what happened, but every lead ended nowhere."
He took a shaky breath.
"And while I was searching for her... I lost you too."
Jungkook's expression softened.
Mr. Jeon looked at his son with tears streaming down his face.
"I thought I was protecting you."
He gave a broken smile.
"But maybe I was only making you hate me."
Jungkook remained silent.
For the first time, he could see something he had never seen in his father's eyes before.
