TW: Abortion

Carly woke up finding herself sat between Mia and Char on the sofa, her head resting on Char's shoulder and Mia's hand slowly stroking her arm. Her phone was ringing and it was her mum, who was naturally worried about her 17 year old's whereabouts at 11pm on a Wednesday evening. Carly sat up and answered the phone being instantly apologetic to her mum and explaining that she fell asleep. The poor girl was mentally and physically exhausted after the night she'd shared with a Char and Mia.

"Come on you, I'd best get you home" Mia gestured offering the young one a lift. Carly gave Charlotte a hug and thanked her from the bottom of her heart as she waved her goodbye. Mia stopped at the front door to slide on her shoes and Carly followed her out, she had one more question for Mia. "Mia?" She started off timidly, wanting Mia's full attention before she continued.
"Yes, Carly?"
"Did the abortion...hurt?"
Mia paused to gather her thoughts so she could answer Carly's question articulately.
"Not initially, no. They just give you two tablets to take and then within a few days you have some heavy cramping and bleeding, sort of like a heavy period. It can go on for about a week, but it's nothing that some over the counter painkillers won't help." Mia gently lay a hand on Carly's arm and they shared a look just before opening the front door and heading out to Mia's mustang. Carly was thrilled to get to ride in Mia's swanky sports car, she had been eyeing it up every time she came to pick Charlotte up from work.

Mia pulled up outside Carly's house, luckily she only lived about 20 minutes from Charlotte, but Mia did it in 15. The woman had a need for speed. The drive was far from peaceful because Mia let Carly connect her phone to the Bluetooth to choose the music. What a mistake that was. Twice, Mia had to endure "I'm just Ken" from the Barbie movie and twice, she protested, but she just giggled to herself. She was happy to see Carly in good spirits following the heaviness tonight brought.

Before opening the passenger door, Carly turned to Mia and, at a subdued volume, thanked her. For everything. Mia, still concerned for Carly, wondered if she had allowed herself to process anything from tonight's events. So without any thought she took Carly's phone from her hand and added her number to the contacts list. Carly was a bit taken back that Mia took her phone without any explanation, but once she saw why, she was grateful. "If you need anything, you can call me, okay?" Carly could tell Mia was being genuine. She gave her a nod and then got out of the car, it didn't go unnoticed that Mia waited until she got through the front door before driving off. She revved her engine a little as she drove down the street knowing that it would make Carly giggle. "Show off" Carly thought to herself, stood behind her front door with a slight grin on her face.

Carly popped her head into the living room to let her mum know she was home, she was dozing off in front of the TV with her phone in her hand as she's usually in bed by 10pm. But clearly she had been anxious waiting for Carly to get home. Carly then went straight up to her bedroom. She started to reflect on the evening and her initial thoughts had been how Mia surprised her. She did feel a pang of guilt for hiding this from her mum. She knows her mum cares and would support her decision in the end, but Carly worried that the news would hurt her too much and that she'd let her love cloud her judgement. She had to make this decision by herself. Or she'd just get another lecture on safe sex which she really neither wanted nor needed. What she did need was Charlotte and Mia.

The couple missed out on their peaceful evening, that's for sure. But that didn't matter to either of them. Mia and Charlotte both subsided their tiredness and need for one another's love tonight to help their friend. They knew it wasn't over yet, but the two of them felt comforted knowing that Carly had a support system. They really do work well as a team.

AN: it could really end here, but I am not done with this yet 😅
