Charlotte's eyes fluttered opened as the morning light warmed her face. She had let herself spend the night with Mia at her apartment, and after months of sleeping apart from her beloved, Charlotte felt a sense of belonging. Everything had fallen into place and she was finally comfortable admitting that she was all in with Mia. As she turned over and caught a glimpse of that lustrous red hair in the sunlight, Char couldn't contain the smile that graced her lips. She watched as Mia slept peacefully, her chest rising up and down whilst sporting the heart necklace that matched her own. It never left the redhead's neck, not once.
"Morning, beautiful" Charlotte whispered into Mia's ear, trying to ease her awake. Mia inhaled deeply as she slowly came around, and turned her head slightly to give Char a gentle peck to the lips.
"Morning, sweetheart." Charlotte reciprocated, turning Mia's peck into a deep kiss. "I've missed waking up to this" Mia said staring into Char's bright blue eyes, her smile beaming with joy.
"Me too. I forgot how nice the view was" Charlotte said with a grin.
"I think my view is much more appealing."The two lovers giggled through a sequence of playful kisses, basking in the warmth of their morning cuddle. One of the cherished moments they had both been deprived of for too long, and neither wanted to go without again.
"Did you sleep okay, baby? I know you were up late worrying about today" Charlotte asked, in attempt to soothe her girlfriend's anxieties.
"I'm fine, sweetheart. Just never thought I'd feel so intimidated by two little girls" Mia laughed, half joking, trying to deter herself from spiralling.
"Mia, they're kids. They don't know your past and will only love you for who you are now. If it's too much, then we can wait a bit longer?" Charlotte reassured, with her head nestled into Mia's shoulder a hand draped on her chest.
"No more waiting. I want a life with you Charlotte, and that involves your girls too. I can only hope that they think I'm good enough for their gorgeous mum" Mia admitted as she kissed the top of Char's head.Mia shook off her insecurities and proceeded with the morning. Her first task of the day: making her sweetheart a coffee. Charlotte had spent so long taking care of Mia and tending to her every need throughout her recovery, and Mia appreciated every second of it. The redhead was now ready to repay Charlotte for her selflessness, starting with the small gestures.
Charlotte joined Mia in the kitchen, thanking her love for the coffee as she took a sip. "Mmm there's nothing like that first sip of caffeine in morning" She sighed with relief as the buzz hit her. It earned a giggle from Mia, who was left infatuated as she admired Charlotte's appreciation for the simplest things. The pair were now up and raring to go for their weekend with the girls. They had both agreed it would be a good idea for Charlotte to collect the girls from their dad's alone, so that they could share some time alone whilst mummy tells them all about her new girlfriend.
Charlotte had two girls, only five years apart. Violet, her eldest, was 9. She was only a couple of months away from the big double digit birthday and would never let anyone forget it. Violet resembled her mother the most out of the two. The same mousy brown hair, eyes the colour of the ocean and, freckles dotted across her cheeks. She was at that age where she was starting to discover her own style, and her own voice. Charlotte would often express how exerted she was from bickering with her eldest. She would always encourage her daughters to be independent and strong willed, but that was beginning to bite her in the arse. Charlotte never lost her temper with Violet. She knew that this was just a crucial phase in her daughter's self discovery, developing her own personality and learning to speak her mind. Charlotte loved her regardless of the attitude and made sure to never dampen her spirit, as she envied her daughter's confidence in some ways.
Lily, was Charlotte's youngest, who had just turned 5 last month. Her jade green eyes were enough to stop anyone in their tracks, but along with her dark, wavy locks, Charlotte knew she'd break a lot of hearts when she's older. Although, she never wanted that day to come. The little rascal would always be Char's baby, her pure and innocent smile showing everyone up at family parties. Lily didn't yet understand social boundaries and therefore was extremely inquisitive, Charlotte loved that about her the most. Listening to Lily ask the most uncomfortable questions always made Char giggle, as if the little one's random outbursts of song and dance didn't already bring the most joyous smile to her face.
