It took a couple of months for Charlotte and Mia to regain a sense of normality again, and fully process what had happened. They had to learn that even though there was no baby to lose, they were still allowed to feel like it was a loss. They had gotten excited at the prospects of becoming parents to a new baby, and chose to have faith in the doctor's reassurance. They knew it would be difficult for Mia to get pregnant, but they still couldn't have prepared themselves for this pain and disappointment.

But it was their first attempt, and Charlotte had agreed to do whatever it takes for them to have a baby. So after finally feeling ready to sit down and discuss their next steps, Mia and Charlotte made the courageous decision to give IUI another chance, determined to have Mia carry their child. They had spoken to the specialist, who had advised Mia to continue taking the fertility drugs for another couple of weeks prior to their next appointment. They would try again, and Mia had vowed to go into the next appointment feeling positive. She knew her stress couldn't have been easy on her body, so she tried her hardest to take a leaf out of Charlotte's book. Asserting confidence when possible and endeavouring to not put so much pressure on herself.

Mia had found that spending time with Autumn, helped a lot with her journey to acceptance. Autumn had known loss from her previous miscarriage, and when she found out that Charlotte and Mia were having difficulty conceiving, she was incredibly empathetic. Autumn had long overcome her own pain and was now in a place to guide her sister through hers. This was growth for the redhead, leaning on people around her for support, rather than suffering alone and turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms. Mia had even taken Reece up on his offer to drive her to and from work on occasion, finding solace in his company outside of work as they listened to Metallica at full volume. Much like when they were teenagers.

Charlotte had also learnt her lessons from suffering in silence all those years ago, when Mia found her at a bar after her separation with her husband. She kept her colleagues informed of what she was going through with Mia, and she's so glad she did. Carly had been sympathetic, offering a listening ear. None of them had been treading on eggshells around her or dwindling on the subject, but all had offered a listening ear if she chose to take them up on it. Charlotte's parents had been so supportive when she went for coffee with them, even offering to pay for the next procedure. They weren't particularly well off, but their daughter's happiness was their priority.

Everything was looking up and Charlotte and Mia were hopeful for their future.

In the lead up to their second IUI procedure, Charlotte and Mia chose to make the most of the time with their daughters. Of course they were hoping to welcome a new family member in due course, but for now, they needed to focus on what they had. It was important to both of them that Violet and Lily got the love and attention they deserved, regardless of what Mia and Charlotte were going through.

Charlotte and Mia had decided to take the girls away to a holiday park for a weekend of family fun. It was only an hour away from home, meaning the journey wouldn't be too taxing. It wasn't to Mia's usual refined taste. There would be no scenic views, grand architect, or fine cuisine, but she had travelled enough in her time to see everything she wanted to. And this weekend was about the girls having a good time.

As intended, the girls had a wonderful time. Lily loved getting to share a room with her big sister in the caravan they were staying in, and they had both practically collapsed in their beds in the evenings after long and thrilling days. The weekend was filled with joy and laughter as they all participated in the fun activities such as swimming, mini golf, archery and crafts. Violet's favourite part of the weekend was the evening disco's, where they would all dance their hearts out to the live music. Lily on the other hand, couldn't choose a favourite part, she was too excited and hopped up on sugar that it was all a blur. The little ball of energy certainly kept the rest of them entertained on the journey home as she waffled all the way. Far too much like her mother, Mia thought to herself with a smirk.
