Marjorie shot out of the car when she saw Mia and Charlotte walking out of the police station, the poor loves looked exhausted. They both took a deep breath, shaking off the intensity from the last hour and a half as Mia put a hand on the small of Char's back, placing a delicate kiss to her temple. "Baby, I'm so proud of you. I know how hard that was."
"I just hope it was enough to help Reece" Charlotte sighed, resting her head on Mia's shoulder.Marjorie came rushing over in panic, eager to hear if the two were any wiser to Reece's situation.
"Go home, Marjorie. He's not getting out of there tonight" Mia advised bluntly, but honestly. Marjorie squinted at the redhead, dismissing her insensitivity.
"What she means is, they're holding him in custody overnight, because they still haven't been able to get a statement from...Adam" Charlotte explained, forcing out the man's name.Marjorie's face took a turn of disappointment. She realised she had been a bit bold to assume that Reece would be released tonight, but she secretly didn't want to go home without him. The idea of sleeping in their bed alone without his warmth beside her, surrounded by the silence that would fill the large room instead of the comforting sound of his breathes. It irked Marjorie, as two had become so codependent by this point.
Autumn got out of the car after noticing Marjorie's head drop in dismay, taking the reminding meal deals with her in a bag. "For you, I had Winter bring them so that we wouldn't all starve" she said as she handed the bag to Mia.
"Thanks, Aut" Mia responded sounding relieved, knowing that she was not about to cook after the extremely long day they'd all had.Autumn turned to Marjorie, relating to the sorrow she could see in her face. The deputy never liked it when she had to spend a night away from Winter on the odd occasion he went to visit his parents, and at least she would know that her sweet was warm and safe. She could only imagine the fear that the manager was feeling for her partner. "Marjorie, why don't you come home with me? Winter and I have plenty of space and at least then you won't be all on your own tonight" Autumn suggested, sighing, as to not appear too out of character with her generous offer.
Autumn had always been cold and closed off with Marjorie, but that didn't mean she didn't care for the woman. In fact, Autumn would consider Marjorie a close friend, she just didn't know how to embrace her in the way a typical friend would. The deputy manager had always hidden her emotions away from prying eyes, and nor did she feel the need to share her life story with everyone who asked. But Marjorie never gave up on her, still offering branches and taking interest over the years despite being dismissed. Autumn had found comfort in her company, and in the end, was grateful that her coworker was persistent. The deputy knew she wasn't the easiest person to warm up to, but over time Marjorie began to realise that Autumn did have her own ways for opening up and showing she cared. She just needed someone to take the time to understand that.
Mia and Charlotte stared at Autumn wide eyed with their mouths agape, completely baffled at the unveiling of the deputy's soft side. Autumn inhaled, rolling her eyes at the two women. "Not. A. Word." she said through gritted teeth, pointing daggers in their direction. Marjorie graciously accepted her offer without questioning it, knowing that her deputy and friend had a heart in that tin chest of hers somewhere, even if it was entwined beneath a bramble of thorns.
"Darling, I'm home" Autumn announced as she walked through the door, only slightly raising her voice for Winter to hear from upstairs. She was always so soft spoken, and Winter loved that about her. He would hear her gentle cries amongst the loudest crowds, her delicate voice being the only one he was listening for.
The deputy began unwinding the second she entered the comfort of her own home, throwing her keys down on the sideboard just inside the door as she stepped out of her black, 5 inch, Louboutin heels. She then immediately released her hair from her tight, high, half up-do. Massaging her scalp, and running her fingers through her hair. Marjorie felt as though she was watching a knight take off its armour, if you pardon the pun. She was mesmerised by Autumn and the way she presented herself flawlessly every day, always taking pride in her appearance. It left the manager with curiosity of what her deputy was like behind closed doors, in her natural state.
