Over the next week, Char and Mia found themselves accompanied by Carly most evenings. Mia hadn't planned on sticking around for this long as she typically only made fly in visits to see her sweetheart. But she wasn't only staying for Charlotte this time, Cary needed her.

Carly wasn't in work all week and she spent a lot of her time at home up in her bedroom. Mia would check in on her daily while Char was at work, and then often the two of them would pick her up on the way home. They dedicated their time to keeping an eye on Carly and attending to her needs. Letting her lounge on the sofa with full control of the TV remote, making sure she stayed hydrated and fed and, keeping her comfortable with blankets and hot water bottles. Mia and Char also rotated checking Carly's temperature, ensuring concerns didn't arise. They made a great team.

Following her second dose, Carly experienced some insufferable cramping, even with the consistent use of painkillers, she spent most of her days hunched over in pain. This was of course accompanied by some clotting and heavy bleeding, resulting in Carly needed to change her pad almost every hour. She also had the occasional bout of sickness, completely swallowing all her energy. Although she managed during the day on her own, she was relieved to have the support and company of her friends in the evenings. Despite the context, the three had grown to look forward to their evenings together. Even if it meant that Mia and Char were getting less quality time as a couple.

Carly's symptoms subsided after a week and was back in work the following Monday. Mia dropped both her and Char off at the nursery before saying her goodbyes and heading to the airport. She didn't feel great about leaving, but she knew Carly was feeling positive about returning to work and that if she needed anything, then she would have Char by her side. Besides, if things did take a turn, then she would only one plane ride away. Nevertheless, there was nothing that Charlotte couldn't handle, Mia had just grown awfully fond of Carly over the past couple of weeks and worried.

Carly walked ahead into the nursery giving Mia and Charlotte a moment alone. She wasn't oblivious to the fact that she'd invaded their space and taken up almost all their free time together, but the two never once made her feel like an inconvenience or a burden.

"It's been nice having you home these past few weeks, when do you think you'll be back?" Charlotte and Mia stood by the car, facing each other with their hands interlocked.
"I'm not sure, baby, but you'll be the first to know."
"I'm sorry we didn't get much time to ourselves."
"Sweetheart, don't apologise, I actually enjoyed having Carly around...don't ever tell her I said that" Mia joked, but it brought a smile to Char's face.
"I can tell you really care about her, thank you, Mia"
Charlotte said as she leaned in to kiss her love, and the pair fought for dominance. Neither of them knew when their lips would next get a chance to connect, so they prolonged it for as long as they could. The two lovers noticed Autumn glaring at them from the window of the office shooting daggers. She was never a big fan of PDA and it often made her sick to her stomach.

"I'd better go, if we carry on like this then Autumn will have my head" Charlotte said as she broke contact, only partly joking. "I love you, Mia."
"I love you too Char, take care of Carly for me okay?"
Charlotte waved goodbye to her mean redhead and watched the Mustang speed out of the carpark. She knew it wouldn't be long before she sees it again. Although it would feel like forever.
