"He's Making My Heart Beat"

Alex’s POV

  I was at the library when Nicole suddenly appeared and I was a little surprised when she sat next to me.

  “I hope you don’t mind.” She said.

I just nodded at her while still all eyes on the book that I was reading.

  “Alex..” She called me a moment later, she sighs before she speaks again. “You don’t have to avoid me. You know, this may sound unbelievable to you, but.. I accept it. I already accepted the fact that I’m just really a friend to you and that you.. already like someone else.”

I turned to look at her this time, to see on her face if she’s really meant what she’s saying.

  “I am.. still hurting, I admit that, but..” She took a deep breath, shrugged her shoulders. “What else can I do? I am not the lucky one who catch your attention.” Then she chuckles.

  I sighed, too. “I’m really sorry. Believe me, I also feel bad that I was hurting you. It felt really bad to know that you’re hurting a friend. If I could only take your pain away right at this very moment, I swear I’d do that.” I told her. “But I could only wish for you to immediately forget whatever it is that you feel about me. I am not the last guy on earth. There’s a lot out there. You’ll find someone better than me and I’m so sure of that. And maybe, the next guy you’ll meet.. probably the one you’re really looking for and the one who really deserve your affection.”

  “Maybe.” She said while laughing. “You don’t need to say it more because I actually know it already. But.. still thank you. And I hope.. this will clear everything between us now. I want us to go back to how we were before, like going out together again.. with our other friends, of course.”

I just nodded at her, gave her a little smile then I turned to my books again.

It took a minute, or more maybe, before I heard her speak again.

  “Uhm, Alex..” She called me. “Can you help me with this?” She asked then she put her hand on my hand.

I was startled at that.

I subtly took my hand back then I looked at her to ask her if what kind of help is she needing, but I was really surprised of what she did the moment I turned to her.

She suddenly cupped my face and kissed my lips.

It happened really fast that I wasn’t able to stop her or dodge from her touch.

  “What the hell do you think you’re doing, Nicole?!” I asked her angrily.

I’m so mad and I want to shout at her, but we’re in the library, so I had to patiently keep my voice down.
