 1977

"Alone for once, I forgot what that feels like." You groaned to yourself as you saw Freddie leave the hotel to go shopping with Brian through the window, finally giving you some space from the singer.

The two of you were a couple and though you did like him very much, more than liked him, you really did feel that sometimes he didn't know when to let you have time to yourself. He was a very sweet, charming and loving boyfriend, but he was an awfully clingy and needy one too. You certainly didn't have to worry about him not being invested in the relationship and wanting someone else, that was certain. Not that you did either, heavens no, but you really did wish that Freddie would do a better job of toning down the need to be with you every minute of every day. As much as you cared about him, you didn't particularly mind doing things on your own or at least having some space once in a while.

You sighed and put on your bathing suit, wanting to go for a swim in the excessively large pool outside where you saw Roger and John playing around.

"Having fun boys?" You asked once you got there, kicking off your sandals and getting in the pool.

The intense cold water making you yelp as it made contact with your skin, the two then turned around to face you.

"Hey Y/N, you didn't go shopping with lover boy? You two are practically inseparable." Roger snorted, swimming around on his back.

"Believe me, I know...I just wanted some time to myself, it feels like I never get that anymore with him." You shrugged, throwing the beach ball to John.

"You still want to be with him though, right?" John asked with a small frown, throwing the ball back to you.

"Well yeah of course I do, but just because you're in a relationship with someone doesn't mean you have to see that person all the time, sometimes you just need a break to let yourself have their own time to themselves, you know?" You explained.

They nodded in understanding, but the uneasy looks on their faces were quite palpable.

"If it gets to be too much make sure you tell him that, we all know what he's like when he really falls for someone like this." Roger said warily, giving you a warning look that read 'Don't break his heart'.

You nodded with a sigh, the thought of Freddie falling for you making you feel warm inside though your stance on the matter was still the same. You cared about Freddie, you always would, but you just didn't want his out of control possessiveness to reach a breaking point.

After a while the three of you got out of the pool and borrowed towels from the hotel, drying off and squeezing the water out of your hair.

"That pool is practically bigger than the hotel, no wonder we stayed out there for so long." Roger groaned, putting a bathrobe on.

"You're telling me, I'll be back there more than once though." You chuckled, dabbing at the ends of your hair with the towel.

"Oh, it looks like Bri and Freddie are back." John observed, hearing a car park outside.

You groaned inwardly to yourself, knowing that as soon as Freddie noticed you he'd be all over you like a bee's all over its hive.

"Joy." You exhaled, the boys quickly catching onto your slightly irritable tone.

"It's really getting on your nerves, huh?" Roger raised an eyebrow, an unclear expression on his face.

"It's just far too constant, you and Dominique aren't always together and Deaky isn't always with Veronica, I merely want some peace and quiet just ONCE in a while. Surely that can't be too much to ask? You all know how I feel about Freddie, but he just gets too annoying with his clinginess sometimes! I just want to be left alone once in a while." You ranted, freezing at the sound of shopping bags dropping behind you,  slowly turning around to a surprised Brian and a stunned Freddie who looked like he was on the brink of tears.

You instantly felt guilt swirl around inside you along with panic, knowing Freddie would react badly to what he heard you say.

"Freddie..." You whispered, tentatively stepping closer to the trembling Persian, your heart shattering as you saw his chocolate eyes usually filled with love and affection for you now filled with tears of devastation.

"I think that's our cue to go, lads." Brian mumbled, grabbing his shopping bags and leaving you and Freddie to yourselves.

You bit your lip, not knowing how to handle comforting Freddie. You couldn't exactly say you didn't mean what you said, but you did suppose you took it a bit too far calling him overly annoying.

"Freddie, listen honey I'm sorry...I-I like you more than I can express, you know that, I just need time to myself sometimes. It feels like you're always around me when I do and don't know it." You said softly, hoping he'd be able to understand that.

"I-I can't help it...I-I just love you Y/N I-I don't want to not be around you...I-I understand if you're gonna leave me." He sniffled.

You froze, your eyes widening at that.

"Y-You love me?" You squeaked.

That explained much..,you still felt like you needed your space, but you easily softened at that confession.

Freddie nodded tearfully, shaking a bit.

"B-but you don't.,.I-I'm too irritating for you wh-who'd want a disgusting, annoying horrendous  buck toothed-"

"Hey!" You cut him off instantly, grabbing his hands.

"I didn't say I wanted to break up Freddie, I do not. And I love you too...I just would appreciate it if you let me have some alone time when I need it. But I'm not leaving you and I NEVER want to hear you say things like that about yourself again. Ever." You said softly, wiping his eyes gently.

Freddie looked up at you imploringly, a soft whimper escaping him.

"Y-You love me?" He asked in a small voice.

"You have no idea." You said quietly, pulling him into your arms.

You weren't completely dry so he was probably a bit wet but you didn't care, you needed to hold him and he needed you to hold him.

"Do you want to take a bath? Together?" You asked after a bit, waiting for him to have calmed down.

"Y-Yes please." Freddie said hesitantly, clearly trying not to overstep.

You gave him a gentle look of reassurance before kissing him softly, taking his hand and leading him to your bathroom.

The end.
