1983
You got into your outfit and put on your makeup, checking your appearance in the mirror to make sure there wasn't one mere flaw upon you.
You worked as a dancer in a popular night club, it wasn't a job you particularly liked and it certainly put some pressure on you to make sure your performance and looks were as good as possible, but it did pay you well and there were worse jobs to have you supposed...
"Y/N, it's almost your cue." Your boss Chad said, making you groan inwardly to yourself. The man was quite a creep and you knew you had to stay on his good side.
"Alright, I'm getting ready." You sighed, doing your hair and checking one last time to make sure you looked decent.
You inhaled quietly and stepped out from behind the curtains, beginning to dance to the song 'Dancer" by Queen.
Queen had always been one of your favorite bands if not your favorite, you had harbored a tiny bit of a crush on the lead singer Freddie Mercury for quite a long time...
'I'm not invited to the party, I've been sitting here all night,
I'm all alone at the party, I don't feel alright.
Ain't got no black coat, ain't got no tie,
I gotta shape up now, come on baby, you gotta know why...
Take off! Dancer, dancer. Can't live with it I'm gonna die without it...
Dancer, dancer, ain't no doubt about it,
Dancer, dancer, won't you kick off your dancing shoes and come ride with me?'
Your body moved to the beat of the funky music carefreely, your eyes closed as you blocked out the watchers.
The crowd clapped for you as you finished, some even whistling as you took a bow and went back to your dressing room.
"Good job Y/N, looks like they liked the show." Chad smirked, instantly making you tense up.
"Th-Thank you sir." You mumbled, eager to get out of this conversation.
"You know, it's funny that you were dancing to a Queen song...I could have sworn I saw Freddie Mercury and the other members of Queen somewhere in the audience, would that have been something or what?"
Your breath hitched at his words, making you even more tense than before. Your favorite band in the audience....Freddie Mercury watching you dance so amateurly to his own band's song...You couldn't think about that. The possibility of your idol having watched you dance and even having been in the same room as you was simply too much to envision.
"Y-Yeah, that would have been something alright." You mumbled, slinging your bag over your shoulder and walking off.
Freddie's POV:
"Well that was a good show, wasn't it? Your song was playing Bri." Roger chuckled, getting into a conversation with Brian and John.
I didn't know why, but there was something about that one girl dancing to our song that really got my attention...she seemed almost possessed by the song as she danced to it, her moves were flawless and she was awfully sexy...Stop it, Freddie. Don't go crushing on someone so quickly like you always do...
"Fred? You alive?" Brian waved his hand in front of my face.
"Freddie." I corrected him as I rolled my eyes.
"You seemed to like that girl dancing to our song, I don't blame you. She is quite hot." Roger remarked, lighting a cigarette.
"Yeah...Shit, I forgot my sunglasses. I'll be right back." I groaned at the sudden realization, heading back into the club.
I went back inside and retrieved my sunglasses, putting them on as I saw someone else starting to leave.
Her.
She looked unnaturally beautiful, and I couldn't help but feel the sudden urge to walk over to her, but perhaps I shouldn't...
Oh fuck it, you tart. Don't be so shy.
I put my sunglasses atop my head and walked up to her, smiling with my mouth closed.
"Hello dear, that was quite a good performance of yours." I grinned as she turned around to face me.
"Th-Thank you-" She started, her eyes widening as she looked at me.
She gave me a once over and froze, staring at me in shock.
"Hey, are you alright?" I raised an eyebrow at her sudden surprise.
"F-Freddie M-Mercury," She squeaked, making me chuckle a bit.
I did think she was likely to recognize me, maybe she's a fan?
"The one and only, darling." I smirked, probably sounding corny as fuck but I didn't care.
"I-I'm sorry, I just can't believe it's you...Q-Queen is my favorite band and y-you're one of my biggest idols." She said meekly.
"That's nice to hear...Clearly you must have felt some connection to us by how well you danced to dancer." I chuckled, her cheeks flushing bright red at my words.
"I-I did well?" She asked in a small voice.
"Of course! You've got a knack for it, that's obvious." I wasn't purposely trying to flatter her more and more, but I was definitely succeeding anyway.
She stared at me in shock, swallowing back a gulp.
"F-Freddie Mercury just said I have a knack for dancing." Her voice cracked, making me giggle a bit.
"Aren't you a bashful little thing...Yes, I did and you do." I snickered.
"I don't know how I'm not dreaming right now." She muttered, hiding her face in her hands as I laughed more.
"Alright, I'll stop trying to break you...May I know your name?" I smiled gently.
"Y-Y/N." She whispered.
"Y/N...That's a lovely name. Well Y/N, would you um...would you want to maybe meet again sometime? Like for tea or something..." I felt a shyness come over me, which irritated me but seemed to have the opposite effect on Y/N.
"Well." She croaked, laughing shakily.
"If someone told me that my biggest inspiration would watch me dance, compliment me on my dancing and then ask me out, I would have called them mad and ran for the hills."
I chuckled at that, rolling my eyes playfully.
"Is that a no then?" I teased as she quickly shook her head.
"N-No it's a yes! Of course it's a yes, I wouldn't say no." She rambled, her cuteness making me mentally squeal.
"Wonderful...Here's my number, call me anytime." I waved, walking back outside.
"How long did the search take?" Roger laughed as I walked back over to him and the others.
"Oh shut up." I snorted, getting in the car.
Well, at least I had something to look forward to...
The end.
