1978

You groaned and snuggled further into the warm and loving embrace of your boyfriend, leaving one arm wrapped around him while you rubbed your eyes with the other.

You would never admit it but you were quite the insomniac, even more so than Freddie. You would often sleep less than you should and you were fairly sleep deprived most mornings. You were also quite addicted to caffeine and coffee, which certainly didn't help your sleeping problems.

"Well who cares? I'm fine, so it doesn't matter." You thought dismissively to yourself, letting your stubbornness get in the way of your well being, a bad habit of yours that you couldn't seem to break.

You would always lie to yourself and say you needed to be alert all the time for work, but even you were having a hard time convincing yourself of that.

You carefully untangled from Freddie and tip toed down to the kitchen, turning the coffee machine on and making yourself a cup.

Did you know you shouldn't be drinking coffee of all things at one in the morning? Yes.

Did you care, however? The answer was no, you most certainly did not.

You heard the machine start to beep as you snapped out of your daydream and took the coffee, lifting it to your lips when a set of slender but strong arms wrapped around your waist gently.

You jumped a bit as you spun around, coming face to face with Freddie who was wearing pajamas with tiny little cats on them, and you swore you had never seen anything so adorable in your entire life before.

"Well good morning to you too," You chuckled as you pecked his lips.

"You should really be saying good night you know," Freddie sighed as he took the cup out of your hands and threw it into the garbage can.

"Hey, I was drinking that!" You protested, a frustrated groan escaping you.

"Not anymore you're not, it's well after midnight and you should be asleep, not having fucking coffee! That isn't good for you Y/N, you know it as well as I do." He crossed his arms.

"I'm just not tired," You said simply as you pouted.

"Is that so? Your bloodshot eyes are singing a different tune, my dear." Freddie retorted matter of factly, pointing at your devil red eyes in the reflection of the coffee machine.

"I just have a really busy work schedule, that's all. I can't be dozing off." You defended, mentally cursing yourself as the slightest yawn began to leave you.

"Y/N you know how much I love you, but you're being a ridiculous tart right now! I know you haven't been properly caring for yourself, and if you're not going to willingly change that then I will." He said seriously.

Your cat Jerry hopped onto the counter and walked over to you, meowing right in your face.

"That's right, you tell her lovey! Mummy needs to take a nap, doesn't she?" Freddie huffed, scooping the feline into his arms and petting the top of his head.

"Oh great, now you've got a damn CAT berating me for not feeling tired." You rolled your eyes.

Freddie sighed again and took you into his arms silently, swaying back and forth as you hugged.

You couldn't help but surrender yourself to his embrace, always feeling safest and happiest whenever he was close, even when the two of you were angry with each other.

"If you're really that moody, can you at least lay outside with me? It's really beautiful tonight." He suggested, massaging your back soothingly.

"I suppose...I'm sorry for snapping." You mumbled into his neck.

"It's okay. I just want you to give yourself and your body the rest it needs, even I know when enough is enough honey." Freddie murmured, picking you up and carrying you outside, where the stars shined brightly above you in the midnight sky.

"Wow...It is beautiful out here," You agreed with his earlier statement as you let your feet touch the ground, knowing how easy it would've been for you to drift off in his comforting hold.

"See? You should try listening to me more, I'm often right darling." He grinned as he laid a blanket down over the grass and settled onto it, gesturing for you to do the same.

You slowly obliged as you rested your head on his chest, staring up at the heavens above.

"We should do this more often," You mused contently, snuggling further into his embrace.

"Then we will." Freddie nodded, spooning you and running his fingers through your hair.

"Sing to me," You requested with a small smile, leaning over to kiss his temple.

"So dear friends, your love is gone...

Only tears to dwell upon..." He sang softly in the darkness, making you feel almost catatonic as his hypnotized you with his mesmerizing, beautiful vocals.

"I dare not say as the wind must blow,

So a love is lost, a love is won..."

You tried with all your might to stifle your yawn, but it failed as Freddie took notice.

"Go to sleep and dream again...

Soon your hopes will rise and then...

From all this gloom, life can start anew...

And there'll be no crying soon," Freddie finished singing just in time as he was met with quiet snores, coming from you who had succumbed to your fatigue and fell asleep to the tender lullaby sang to you by the love of your life.

Freddie smiled to himself as he picked you up gently and walked back inside, going up the stairs silently and placing you onto the bed carefully.

He got in next to you and pulled the duvet over you both, falling asleep himself.

The end.
