Pete dropped Kao right outside the mansion and drove in. But Kao was still waiting there, even after 15 minutes. Pete who was observing patiently all along came out again nonchalantly... "Kao, Is something wrong?"

"Ummm... Not really, But do you remember the Ice Cream uncle who parks here every day?" Kao wondered

"Oh... Yes..." Pete tried to talk without smiling... "Are you waiting for him?"

"Ya, But looks like I am late today, He is nowhere to be seen" Kao pouted

"Probably!, How about I walk you home?" Pete desperately blurted

"No Pete, It's okay, I will get going now" Kao's sadness was palpable

"I... I want to know where you live, I mean where uncle lives, I know you just live a few blocks away" Pete Insisted... "Also, I like to take a walk in the evenings, So, Let me join you, Please?"

Kao silently led Pete to his home.

"This is me" Kao declared showing his home

Pete nodded... "I will pick you up here tomorrow, You don't have to wait at the turn"

Kao sighed shaking his head... "I don't want to bother you"

"You are not, It's literally on my way" Pete shrugged

Kao was hesitating when a cheerful voice greeted them... "Pete!"

Kao's mom was opening the gate... "How long has it been? Come on in, Did you come with Kao?"

"Hello Aunty!" Pete greeted her politely... "How have you been?"

"Oh! Great, Except I miss you a lot" She held Pete's wrist, walking him into the house... "I have been asking your uncle to bring you home, but he never told you, did he?"

Pete chuckled... "He did Aunty, It's just I have been busy with the Hotel and entrance exams, I am sorry, I will visit you often from now on"

Kao frowned... "Mom, What do you mean? Has Pete been here before?"

"Of course, He loves the chicken cutlets I make, Though I don't think he remembers that anymore" She pouted reminding Pete of Kao's pout from just a few minutes back. 

Pete couldn't help but laugh as he held her hands... "I am sorry Aunty, I miss you a lot too, I miss your cutlets every day"

"How about you take a seat, I will make some for you right away" She beamed and opened the fridge to be greeted by a huge box of ice cream.

"By the way Kao" she called for her son... "The Ice Cream uncle you visit every day, He came by earlier and dropped this ice cream for you, He also said that he will do this every day so you don't have to wait for him on the street"

"Hah?" Kao exclaimed... "How did he know where I live and Did you pay him for the Ice Cream?"

"No, He didn't let me, apparently you are his lucky charm, so he is grateful for having met you" She made a blank face... "At least that's what he said"

Pete who was listening to the whole conversation just kept smiling.

Kao freshened up, did some chores, and helped his mom prepare dinner. And Pete hung around talking to his mom. He even stayed for dinner. And after dinner she prompted Kao... "Kao, Why don't you go drop Pete at home?"

"Ah? No, Aunty, It's not even far, I can go by myself" Pete refused

"No, Pete, It's late, You don't know what kind of people are roaming around, Let Kao come with you"

"But he will have to come back alone then"

"He is used to it, Don't worry about him" She smiled encouragingly and sent them off.
