"YOU WANNA DARE SAY THAT AGAIN, Sir Thittiphoom?" Tawan's voice sounded loud enough to make everyone close their ears, but no one dared to move as Tay's hand clenched around New's neck.
"I...I am Sorry...." New's voice came out labored as his voice box was arrested... "Y..Y..O...U...R Hig...hne...ss... forgiiive me..."
Tay cocked his head to one side, feigning angst that made everyone glue their bums to their places in the full court.... "What was that?" He shouted again, still strangling New.
"You...r highness!!" New tried to be louder.
Hearing that, Tay nodded satisfactorily and let go of New's neck, which was already black and bruised before glaring at the staring court, making everyone jump back in their seats.
"W..We will decrease tax by 2%" The finance minister stuttered, "and submit the new budget next week".
New was rooted to his spot as he tried hard to blink back his tears.
Listening to that, Tay started breathing normally, which made everyone remember about air again.
"Good, now that it's settled, do we have anything else to discuss for the day?" Tay enquired of no one in particular as he adjusted his vest like he didn't just attempt to kill his chief minister.
There was a pin drop silence for a few seconds before New's voice sternly replied... "No, Your Highness, that was the last item on the agenda for the day."
Everyone gaped at the already composed New. He hadn't moved from the wall yet, and the bruise on his neck was unmistakable, but his posture and face yielded composure.
"Then let's close the court for the day." Tay's voice was as dominant as ever as he announced, now valiantly seated on his throne. His hand on his thigh and legs wide, ready to attack if anyone dared defy him.
Everyone gladly scooted off the court, leaving only the King and the chief minister inside the huge room.
"Go out and close the door. No one can enter until I say so," Tay instructed the guards left in the room, who immediately ran out and secured the door. He already seemed relaxed.
As it's just two of them there, New let go of his composure and was standing with the support of the wall, face down, looking as vulnerable as he could ever be, blinking back the tears that kept filling his eyes.
"New!" Tay called in his deep voice after a few seconds.
The glare Tay got then sent chills down his spine.
"New!" It was soft this time, and New had not stopped glaring yet, his eyes red and furious.
Tay took a deep breath and slowly stepped down from the throne to move towards New.
"I am really sorry...." Tay pleaded and approached New.
New averted his gaze to look anywhere else as if he was trying hard to stop himself from digging his knife through Tay's chest.
"Babe..." Tay's call this time made New burn his eyes into Tay from head to Toe.
"You know what you did.... You know you crossed the line.... You shouldn't have gone that far...." Tay didn't sound defensive, just desperate.
"ME....? I CROSSED THE LINE....?" News' sudden outburst reverberated in the closed room, and though it was a soundproof room, it would have been heard outside atleast through the windows, but none of them cared.... "We are building a dam, a 1000 KM road, and do you even know how much it costs to run this court every day ha?" New was still shouting, and Tay just blinked.
