"It would indeed be stupid but you guys should look for someone else to live with you", I say. they both turn around to look at me in shock. "Why?", Matthew asks. I have to keep myself from breaking down right here and now in the car while they're both looking at me. "I don't have that kind of money", I whisper while holding myself. "I would love to live here with you guys but I literally can't, I might even need to sell my car to get some more money", a tear rolls over my cheek as I think about how low I've fallen again. "No!", Jake yells in anger. "You are moving in with us, the faster the better", he continues. "You know what Jake and I will buy it, you'll move in with us and pay us until you're even okay?", Matthew says. "I-I-I can't a-ask that f-from you guys", I stutter in between sobs. I hear a door open and close followed by another door and then I feel a hand on my cheek. I look up and see Jake sitting beside me while holding my face. "Don't worry angel, we're going to help you out", he says in a soothing voice.
After I've calmed down Jake gets behind the wheel again and takes us out to eat. We get out of the car and both boys come to hug me. "Everything will be alright", Jake says before he kisses the top of my head. I nod and try to cheer up a bit as we go inside. We discuss a lot of things during our dinner and when we leave I feel a small wave of relief wash over me. Matthew send a message to the owners explaining that he and Jake will buy the apartment and asked when they could sign the papers. About a week later, everything has been arranged and I also ended my rent in the current apartment. Jake has payed my part so I will be paying him back everything as soon as I can.
Roomies 😝
Matthew: "Guys does anybody know what stuff we need in the apartment because I'm gonna be honest, I have no clue"
Jake: "Chloë can you help us with that since you've been living alone already I guess you can tell us best"
"We need a lot but we can use some of my stuff for now": Me
"With that I'm talking about things like silverware, plates, glasses,... and other stuff like that": Me
"We do need to buy a washer and a dryer if we have enough space for them": Me
Matthew: "Ah great, we can start with your stuff and then look to buy extra if that's okay?"
"Yeah that's great. We should probably also get things to decorate a bit but that can wait until later.": Me
"We should really focus on the necessary first and then see what our budget after that is": Me
Jake: "We should make a list after we moved in and then go to the store"
Matthew: "Great idea! When are you guys moving in?"
Jake: "During the upcoming weekend, you?"
Matthew: "Same"
"I'll be there sooner because I have to work in the weekend. I'm moving during the week": Me
Jake: "You're packing already?"
"Yes I'm almost finished actually. Tomorrow after my classes I'll be driving back to get the stuff and then go to the apartment": Me
Jake: "I'll come help pack out!"
"Oh it's fine I don't have a lot of stuff so it should be quick": Me
So the next day after my classes I go to my old apartment to pick up the few boxes and put them in my car. Then I drive to the new place and while I'm looking which box to take first, both Matthew and Jake arrive. "Oh hey guys", I say. "Hey, wait is that everything you own?", Matthew asks while looking at the boxes. "Uh yeah, told you it's not much", I awkwardly reply. We all take a box and go upstairs. We only go back once since it's not a lot of stuff. "Damn you labeled your boxes, that's smart", Jake says when he notices it. "It's easier to find everything", I shrug. "Okay so in these boxes should be the stuff for the kitchen", I say while pointing to the two boxes on the kitchen counter. We take everything out and give it a place before really acknowledging the other boxes.
"What's in the other boxes?", Matthew inquires. "In one of them should be things like toilet paper and stuff for the bathroom, and there should be one with fresh sheets. And the other two are filled with things like clothes and books and some things that are important to me", I reply. "Oh sheets, I should really go to the store to buy those", Jake announces. "The ones I have now are pretty old", he continues. "Yeah I might also buy some new ones", Matthew responds. "I didn't even think about stuff like that", Jake admits. "I don't know how you did it, but really, I look up to you", Matthew says to me. I give him a confused look before I understand that he means living alone.
