"I'm going grocery shopping guys, you need anything?", I ask them as I'm putting on my shoes. "I don't think so", Matthew responds. "You want me to tag along?", Jake asks. "You can, but you don't have to", I reply. "Just wait a second I'll put on shoes", he says before walking to his room to get his shoes. We leave the apartment and walk to the store while talking. "Did you sleep well?", I ask Jake. "Yeah I did, but after sleeping in the same bed with someone else for a week, it felt weird to be alone", he replies. "Yeah same. I have to say that you surprised me, I didn't expect you to be a cuddler", I say. "Well not always on purpose", he states. "Why do you take it as a bad thing? I kind of liked it", I admit. "Guess we'll have to cuddle more ofter then", he says while winking at me. "By the way, what was up with you this morning?", I ask him. "About what are you talking?", he asks in return. "About you opening your door just a little to then close it again to then open it again and come out", I answer. "Oh well last night I just took all of my clothes off and I almost forgot to put a shirt back on this morning. If I hadn't done that, Matthew would've asked questions don't you think?", he says.
I remember his chest and the 'art' on it from in Spain. "You still have to send me that picture", I say to him. "And I send all the pictures that I took in the groupchat", I add. "The one with Alice in it?", he asks. "God I forgot about her. Well I guess she'll have them too", I shrug. We've been walking in the store for a while now and almost have everything we needed. "I wonder what she going to do with the baby", Jake says with a somber face. "I just hope that she doesn't do stupid things while she's pregnant. Hopefully her dad can keep her in control", I say. "Yeah I hope so too", Jake replies. After getting everything and paying, we go back home where we see Dakota sitting on our couch. "Miss us already?", Jake jokes. "Sure", Dakota replies dryly. "Hey Chloë did anything happen to you yet?", Dakota asks me. "Not that I know of. Should anything have happened to me?", I ask with concern. "Well that was kind of a weird way to frase it of me but something did happen to me", he says.
He waits until we put all the stuff away so that we can listen to him carefully. "Do you remember that Alice her dad promised that I would get what I deserve?", he starts. We all nod and he continues. "I got a call this morning from him and he told me that he wants to hire me as his personal architect. He's planning to buy old buildings so that he can take them down and build new proper buildings and he wants me to design them." "Damn bro you're lucky", Matthew sighs. "No not only me", Dakota states. "You too", he says while pointing at both Jake and Matthew. "The man got people to find out where you guys did your internships and told them to give you a position and in exchange he would invest in them", Dakota continues. "You're kidding right?", Jake asks. "No, you should check your emails", Dakota says. Both guys take their phones to check their emails. They look in disbelief at their screens and then at Dakota and me. They both turn their screen at the same time to show us and they indeed both have an email of the companies, offering them a job.
"Damn imagine you're so powerful", Jake says after he got over the shock. "Must be fun", I mumble. "Are you sure you didn't get anything?", Matthew asks while looking at me. "I mean, you practically did the most for her, we didn't even have much to do with her and he gave us a job, you should have something too right?", he explains. "I don't know, as far as I know, I got nothing", I say. Just then a message pops up on my screen. I open the message and start choking on air. "What happened?", Jake asks. "He gave me a sum of money", I whisper. Dakota takes my phone and takes a look. "Girl you call that a sum? You got fifty thousand dollars", Dakota whistles. "Well I know I deserved something, but that much wasn't necessary either", I reply. "I bet that he doesn't even feel it. He probably makes twice that amount an hour", Dakota says. "Still don't you think it's a bit much?", I ask. "Well since you got it, it must mean that he thinks you deserve it", Jake shrugs. "He may not feel it, but this just changed so much for me", I state, still in shock.
