She unlocks the door and pauses a few seconds before opening it. I push the door open completely and we notice a very dirty, ill feeling room. "They left it", Chloë whispers. Something in her changes and she starts opening every closet door to check. She starts crying again while opening everyhting like a crazy person. Dakota takes her to stand in the middle of the room. "Calm down Chloë", he says. "They left everyhting, it's all still here like I left it. Nothing is gone", she sobs. "This is all your stuff? Damn girl you had a lot, why did you leave so much?", Matthew asks. "I- I don't know", she says. "But it's still here, it's still all yours. You have everything back now", I say. "Yeah, but why? Why did they just lock the door?", she asks. "Maybe because they loved you more than you think?", Dakota suggests.
"Wow I need to see you wear this dress", Matthew suddenly says while holding a random dress. She looks at it and laughs. "You have seen me wear it", she says. "I did?", he asks confused. "Highschool graduation", she says while taking out her phone. She turns the screen to him after scrolling for a while. "God I do not remember that", he replies. I take a look at the picture and vaguely remember it. "Well since it's still here, I might wear it if I graduate college next school year", she sighs. "Let's go look at the last room, there should be some treasures there", she says. We go to the next room, which is full of stuff. She looks around for a little bit before something catches her eyes. She starts moving stuff and she hands us each a box. "Picture books", she says shortly. We put the boxes in her old room before we go check out the attic. "So they made rooms here", she says while looking around. She walks around and touches some things that are stored there.
"It'll take so much time to get rid of everything if I want to sell this place." "You're going to sell this?", Matthew asks. "Yeah why not?" "Because you can come live here again. God we can all live here", he responds. "We have the apartment, I really like it there", she replies. "You can rent the place too, it'll earn you some more money", Dakota says. In the meantime we walked back downstairs and put the boxes on the table. "Garden or pictures first?" "Garden", we all respond. She takes us to the garden and shows us around, also showing us the garage. "He still owned this?", she says while walking to a motorcycle. "I used to love it when I was little, he would bring me to my grandparents with it, it was so much fun", she says. "Did you ever learn how to ride it?", I ask. "No, but it can't be that difficult," she says. "I'll take a look at it later, we should go take a look at the pictures", she adds.
We all walk back into the house and sit down on the couch with her in between us. "She loved to make these", Chloë says while opening a book. We take a look at almost all the books, ask her questions and she tells us stories too. "Don't you think it would be a shame to sell this place here?", I ask her when we finished every book. "I don't know, but I can't keep it either because I'm still paying you back for the apartment. I can't own a house and an apartment without having the money for it", she answers. "Maybe you should sleep on it for a night", Matthew says. "Yeah maybe. By the way Matthew, since you're the only one without a car, if one of the two cars is good enough for you, you can have it." "You're kidding right?", he asks in disbelief. "No I'm not", she replies. "I'll uh I'll think about it", he says, rubbing the back of his neck. "Maybe we should be heading back home", I say since it's already pretty late. We leave the house and drive back home but before we get home, we go and grab dinner. After that we go to the apartment and Dakota returns to his house.
