Jordan Kent: Don't Look Down (Martin Garrix)
Jordan kept the music at the volume it originally was, which was pretty loud. And he would've normally turned down the radio if someone else was in the car, but it was just Sarah.
It was sad, but for the first time in a while, Jordan looked more disoriented and sleep-deprived than she did. Well, she still looked tired as all hell with her dark circles and gaunty frame. But there was an aura to her that felt... revived. As if she had gotten her spark back.
And he loved it.
Is your head spinning? Is your heart racing?
Jordan slowed as the rain began to come down faster and faster, blurring his vision of the road to the point where he couldn't tell what side of the road he was on.
"What are you doing out driving all alone?" Sarah asked, staring out the front window. She had curled up in her seat, her chin resting on her knees.
"What are you doing walking alone at night in the middle of the road in a rainstorm?"
"Nothing."
"Well, nothing for me too."
Is there fire in your veins?
That was a huge lie. He really needed to get out of his house for a little while after getting in a heated argument with Jonathan. And his mom was out with some other moms in the area for a wine night. And his dad was out on patrol...
So he took the car and drove off.
Are your bones burning? Is your skin yearning?
"Do you want me to drop you off at home or..."
Sarah looked straight ahead as her street came into view. "Yeah. I need to talk to my mom about something."
Jordan nodded and pulled into her driveway. She quickly said thank you and ran inside, now concerned about the rain beating down.
Cause you're driving me insane–
As he drove away, a new relief in the air made him feel...relaxed? God, when was the last time he felt relaxed? Between school, fights, his friends, his parents and the future, Jordan barely had time to think for himself.
But now? It was still early in the evening, no one needed anything from him, his friend was doing better, he could blast music as loud as he wanted... yeah, everything was looking up.
I kinda feel like I, feel like I saw the light–
Hazards suddenly began flashing in front of him. Slowing down and pulling over to the side, Jordan hopped out of his car and ran to the driver's side of the window. When he knocked, an older gentleman explained that his wife's car was stuck in the mud, just a few feet ahead. They were going to wait out the storm and then call a towing company to help.
Jordan, in a better mood, said that he'd push the car out of the mud himself. Despite the gentlemen's protests, Jordan gently pushed the car out of the mud and back on the road.
You got me way up, a thousand miles–
Running back to his car and slamming the door shut, a phenomenal wave of adrenaline coursing through his veins.
He felt good. Doing something good felt good. And he was used to saving and helping people. But on his own? That only he knew about? That felt even better.
Can we stay right here in this atmosphere–
Driving back onto the road, Jordan went out of his way and removed any fallen branches or dangerous objects from the road. Occasionally, he put back flying pieces of furniture or forced a family to bring their pets inside from their outdoor homes.
