Simon silently cried in the corridor as he waited for someone to tell him something, anything. He wanted to hear his boyfriend was ok, that everything would be all right, but instead he got the opposite.
"Mr. Minter?" Simon looked up to see a nurse, he stood up, wiping his tears. "Yes?" He said, sniffing a little. "I'm afraid the injuries Mr. Payne has received requires him to stay in hospital for a while. He has had very bad concussion as well as wounds all over his face and head from falling on glass. As for the cuts on his arm - he will require a therapist, as well as lawful attention." The nurse looked behind Simon as she said the last sentence. Simon turned around to see the police, heading towards him.
Simon's heart stopped working as they stood in front of him, was he going to be arrested? "Sir, we're going to have to investigate what has happened tonight. We have reason to believe that you may have committed domestic violence, as well as causing the victim to hurt himself." Simon couldn't reply to what the officer had just told him. Instead he simply nodded, following the officer to the police car.
"What happened before Mr. Payne arrived in hospital?" The officer looked at Simon straight into his eyes. Simon looked down when replying. "We had a fight."
"What do you mean by fight?"
"We argued."
"About what?"
"Being gay."
"I'm going to need you to explain in more detail."
"We weren't accepted for being gay and it caused us to fight. Ethan wanted to us to break up and I didn't."
"What happened next?"
"I left the room and stood in the kitchen for a while."
"And?"
"I went back up and... He was self harming."
The officer wrote everything down onto a notepad, Simon continued looking down at the floor, unable to look up at the man. He was being questioned by the police, he felt like a criminal, like he murdered someone. His boyfriend was in hospital with serious injuries and he was in the police station, being questioned for it.
"What happened after you found him?"
"I... I grabbed the razor from him and threw it at the mirror and... The glass fell on him." Simon answered, near tears. The officer looked at him sternly after writing it down. "And?"
"And I tried pulling him away but he slipped and... fell."
"If he didn't fall, what would've you done?"
Simon thought for a moment about this question. If Ethan didn't fall, he probably would've taken him to the Sidemen house and beaten the shit out of JJ.
"I would've gone and dealt with it."
"How?"
"I would've spoken to my friends about it, try and get them to cheer him up." Simon lied. He didn't want to tell the officer that his friends hadn't accepted him and Ethan, and that was why all of this had happened.
"So your friends acc-"
"Mr. Minter can be excused."
Simon looked up to see another officer at the door. She continued, "All the possible charges against him have been lifted. There are people waiting outside to pick him up."
The officer questioning Simon nodded before turning back to Simon. "I guess you're free to go. But we will be keeping an eye on you Mr. Minter." Simon weakly smiled before getting up and leaving.
As he walked through the corridors he wondered who had come to pick him up. Was it his friends? Did they hear about what happened? Was JJ going to make up? Simon smiled a little at the thought that his friends were going to pick him up and everything would be ok, but when he walked out of the station his smile disappeared and fear hit him.
