Chapter 46 - Desperate

Simon sat in his old room, scrolling through Twitter and reading his mentions. He moved back into the Sidemen house since he and JJ had made up. There were loads of supportive people, wishing him luck and hoping for the best; but Simon felt desolate. He wasn't sure if Ethan saw his latest video, or if he even acknowledged the hundreds of people reaching out to him about the issue. He knew Ethan didn't want to know him anymore, and Simon was slowly losing hope.

He put his phone down and held his head in his hands. His mind was blank, his eyes closed, there were no emotions in his heart. He heard the doorbell ring, and one of the boys leave their room to answer it.

"Simon?"

Simon looked up, blinking a few times as he noticed Vikk stood next to the door. "There's someone here to see you." Vikk squeaked. Simon frowned at him, confused. Vikk looked nervous, he looked scared. His voice was tiny and he avoided Simon's gaze.

Simon got up and walked out of the room, downstairs where the visitor was waiting. Vikk quietly followed, but stood at the top of the stairs.

Simon walked into the living room, even more confused. He had never met the visitor before, but the visitor was smiling at him with such emotion that it seemed like they had known each other since they were children.

"Hi," the visitor smiled, putting out their hand for a handshake, "I'm Katie, Ethan's girlfriend."

Simon's face fell as he stood frozen, staring at Katie. He took in her sight, her eyes, her hair, her smile. Of course Ethan would prefer her to him, her presence alone was bright whereas Simon bought darkness wherever he went.

Katie moved her hand away, looking down at the floor while Simon stood frozen.

"Simon?" She quietly said, a slight hint of fear in her throat. "Simon. I know. I'm sorry. If I had known sooner I wo-"

"Please leave." Simon quietly said, his voice sharp and stealthy, looking away.

"Please listen to me Simon, I saw your video and... And so did Ethan." Katie quickly said.

Simon looked up from the floor, his eyes glassy. "And?" He whispered, his voice weak and broken. He was breathing quicker, his heart pounding inside him.

"Ethan still loves you Simon." Katie replied, pain evident in her voice.

"Then why won't he come back?" Simon wailed, breaking down as tears started streaming. "He doesn't love me. Don't fill me with shit!" He yelled, causing Vikk and Josh to run downstairs.

"Simon." Josh said as he grabbed Simon's arm. Simon waved Josh off, anger and pain rising in him. He was desperate for Ethan, he was tired, broken, he didn't what to do or what to feel; he just wanted Ethan. He was exhausted of the continuous fight.

"Please tell me the truth. Please." Simon's voice went high as his brows creased and his heart pounded with pain.

"Simon, Ethan still loves you. He knows he does. He... Never loved me. He always loved you, he always hid it. He missed you and he wants to be with you, but he's so twisted with who he is and who people think he is. Simon, he's depressed and broken and I couldn't do anything! I was just there, oblivious. He pretended, all the time. He never... He never loved me." Katie babbled before breaking into tears. "He never loved me." Katie gasped between her sobs.

Simon watched the heart broken girl before pulling her into a hug. He knew what she was feeling, how horrible and murderous that feeling was. "I'm sorry Katie." He whispered. He felt Katie shaking her head as she sobbed. Vikk and Josh stood behind them, near the doorway, watching the bundle of broken pieces in front of them with tears in their eyes.

Simon and Katie held each other as they both silently thought and knew of what was going to happen next. Ethan had to choose, and it was going to be one of them.
