Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
The man shouted something to his comrades and they quickly disappeared. "Sophie? What were those shots? Sophie answer, Sophie! Little one, what's going on, please answer!" Rosita said through the walkie talkie and you could hear the panic in Rosita's voice when she heard the sounds of the shots. Rosita became more panicked when she got no answer.
Now:
When Rosita still didn't get an answer, she grabbed her weapon and whatever she would need now. Rosita quickly checked again to see if she had everything and when she had everything she walked quickly towards the gates of Alexandria where Daryl and Michael were repairing the walls or the gates, the protection around Alexandria, until Michael saw that Rosita was heading towards the gates but he realised that something was very wrong. He then quickly went to Rosita but Daryl went with him. "Rosita, what's wrong?" Michael asked quickly, whereupon Rosita considered whether she should really tell him or not but she decided to tell him. "Sophie is in danger," Rosita explained very seriously, but you could tell she was worried sick, but who could blame her? Her daughter was in danger and Rosita didn't know where exactly she was, how Sophie was doing, or whether she was alone or not. Michael looked at Rosita in shock at first, but his expression then changed from shocked to worried. "I'm coming with you," came Michael's resolute response, whereupon Rosita immediately interrupted him before Micheal could even continue. "No, you're staying here in Alexandria with the others," came Rosita in a stern tone because she didn't want anything to happen to Michael. It was enough for Rosita that Sophie was in danger, which was more than enough... "But," Michael tried to protest, but Rosita interrupted him again. "Michael, no, you stay here where it's safe. I also need you here. You have to tell Siddiq, okay?" Rosita said seriously but gently. Michael looked down but after a few seconds he agreed. "Good..." Michael said, slightly annoyed. "Bring me Sophie back," Michael said, worried but serious and sad. Rosita could hear the pain in his voice. Michael was worried about his sister. Rosita nodded as a sign that she promised to come back with Sophie. Then Rosita turned to Daryl who was standing next to Michael and listening to the whole thing. Rosita nodded to Daryl who knew straight away what Rosita meant because Daryl had suspected that Rosita wanted him to come with her. "2 minutes," Daryl said seriously before he disappeared. Rosita talked to Michael for a moment and told him that he should definitely stay here in Alexandria because it is enough that one person is in danger and it is not necessary that Michael also puts himself in danger, but Michael agreed even though he did not want to. After a short while, Daryl came back with his crossbow over his shoulder. Daryl, Rosita and Michael talked briefly and quickly about a plan before Rosita said goodbye to Michael and hugged him. So Rosita and Daryl went out of Alexandria to look for Sophie. "Do you have any idea where she could be?" Daryl asked in a serious but thoughtful tone while looking at Rosita. "She was at a house with Michael before, she's been there before," Rosita explained seriously while she and Daryl walked. "Which house?" Daryl asked curiously but also seriously so he knew how best to find Sophie. "A house not far from Alexandria, it was Sophie's and Cal's house, well what do you mean their house, they were here very often when Carl was still alive, so Carl and Sophie's house, so to speak. Now she only comes there when she needs time for herself or is generally thinking about Carl." Rosita then explained to Daryl what the house was all about, while Daryl listened attentively but still had a good view of the surroundings. The two then went to the house where Michael and Sophie had been before after a moment. Daryl went in first but he had his crossbow in his hand in case they both didn't know whether there was anyone in the house or not. Rosita had her pistol in her hand and so they both looked around roughly but found nothing. So they both went outside where Daryl then saw a footprint and he immediately recognized that it was Sophie's because Daryl was an expert at reading snippets. The two followed the trail, which wasn't very long, and saw a person lying on the ground from a distance. "Sophie," Daryl said seriously when he saw that it was Sophie lying on the ground, to which Rosita nodded in confirmation. "Go to her, I'll hold the position," Daryl said in the same tone but you could tell from his voice that he was worried about Sophie. After all, he had known Sophie for years and had practically seen her grow up, and Daryl had saved Sophie from Terminus back then. Rosita wanted to go to Sophie either way, so it wouldn't have made any difference if Daryl had said it or not. Rosita ran to Sophie, who was lying unconscious on the floor. "Sophie," Rosita called out, completely worried, while she shook Sophie slightly to try to get Sophie to regain consciousness, but it didn't work. Rosita said Sophie's name a few more times in a panic, but there was no answer. Rosita carefully put Sophie's arm around her shoulder so that Rosita would support Sophie. So Rosita carefully stood up and went to Daryl. "She's alive, but we have to hurry," came Rosita's worried but also panicked reply, as she looked at Sophie but then looked back at Daryl. "Wait," came Daryl's sudden reply as he took a piece of cloth out of his bag and carefully wrapped it around Sophie's wound to stop the bleeding. "Thank you" came from Rosita, whereupon Daryl and Rosita went back to Alexandria with Sophie, but they did it as quickly as possible. When they arrived in Alexandria, Daryl and Rosita hurried to Siddiq, who was already waiting with Micheal. Daryl and Rosita carefully placed Sophie on one of the stretchers that were in the room. Rosita then sent Micheal out, who didn't want to go at first but then left the room anyway. Siddiq helped the two of them and then laid Sophie down. He began to examine Sophie and first took the piece of cloth from the wound and began to clean it. "So, from the beginning again, what exactly happened?" Siddiq asked seriously, but he didn't take his eyes off Sophie. "Micheal and Sophie were outside and I asked Micheal to come here for a moment, but she wanted to stay a little longer until after a while she heard voices and at some point a shot was fired." Rosita explained while trying to show my weakness. "The jenuve who shot her was either not far away or is not very good at shooting," Siddiq explained after he had cleaned Sophie's wound. "Why?" Daryl and Rosita asked at the same time as both had no idea what Siddiq meant by that. "By that I mean it's a miracle that she's still alive because look," Siddiq said seriously while he turned Sophie's head slightly but carefully and gently to the side so that the other two could see the wound. "A shot to the head, normally even an adult doesn't survive something like that and if an adult does it's only because the bullet didn't penetrate the head or because the bullet hit an unimportant part of the head." Siddiq continued to explain while laying Sophie's head down again and trying to find out whether the bullet was still inside or not. "What does that mean?" Daryl asked seriously. "That means she was very lucky," Siddiq said after he took the bullet out. He took small pauses while he spoke. "Look, the bullet is slightly bent, the bullet seems to have flown in such a way that it somehow bounced off, things like that can happen," Siddiq then explained while he put a bandage around Sophie's head after he had cared for her as best he could. "When will she wake up?" Rosita asked worriedly as she looked at Sophie. "As far as I can see, she should wake up in a few days, she's lost a lot of blood," Siddiq explained seriously, but Rosita breathed a sigh of relief when she realized that Sophie would be fine again. After a moment, Siddiq asked Micheal in, and Rosita explained more or less everything to Micheal. "I'll find these bastards no matter what," Rosita said after a moment of silence, whereupon Daryl looked at Sure Rbst. "We don't even know who they are or how many there are!" Daryl said seriously, but this time she didn't care. "I don't care, nobody is hurting our people and especially not my daughter," Rosita said seriously, whereupon Daryl thought for a moment. "I'm in, when are we leaving?" Daryl asked. "When you're ready," came Rosita's serious but also a little cold reply. Then Daryl disappeared for a moment but then came back with weapons and ammunition. Rosita packed some ammunition and then Daryl the rest. "Look after your sister, OK?" came Rosita's gentle reply as she turned to Michael. "Of course, but be careful, both of you, OK? And find the assholes who hurt Sophie," came Michael and both Rosita, Daryl and Siddiq could hear that Michael was angry. "Promise," came Daryl's serious reply to which Michael nodded with relief. So Daryl and Rosita left after Siddiq assured them that he would sort it out with Michonne and Daryl went with Rosita after Rosita gave Sophie a gentle kiss on the forehead to end the trip. Daryl and Rosita were talking about a plan when they heard a noise and Daryl aimed his crossbow in a direction. They both approached carefully and saw a teenager who was no older than 16 killing a walker. "Turn around, slowly and drop the weapon" came Daryl's cold reply, whereupon the teenager dropped the weapon and turned around, it was a boy who really was no older than 16. He looked briefly at Dark and then at Rosita where he looked at her in shock. Daryl was about to say something to the boy but Rosita got there first. "Adrian...?" Rosita asked, shocked but confused when she saw the boy standing there. "Rosita..." came the confused reply from the boy. Then Daryl put down the crossbow when he saw that the boy seemed to be okay because Rosita knew the boy, who turned out to be Adrian.
