Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
"Yes... I'm glad she's here but I'm afraid something will happen to her... So many have died..." Sophie said sadly in a trembling voice. "It won't, we'll do everything to protect her and we'll protect Michael too, right?" Rosita said gently whereupon Sophie nodded slowly. Rosita then gave Sophie a kiss on the forehead but the two stayed outside for a while in the fresh air before going inside and trying to sleep.
Now:
About 2 to 3 months have passed since Michael started living with Sophie, Tara and Rosita and since Rosita had that conversation with Sophie outside. Michael had settled in well in Alexandria, he got on well with the people. Even Sophie got on well with him. Even in Alexandria, and so most people knew by now that Sophie and Henry were a couple. Right now, In the kingdom there was a fair with lots of people, there was even a cinema. Sophie was walking around looking at different stalls and everything, but when Sophie was at a bench under an umbrella, Sophie saw a woman who seemed suspicious to her, Sophie didn't know why but it just seemed strange to her. As Sophie approached she saw a mischievous expression on the woman's face as if she was planning something because the woman was looking very focused in the direction of Rosita who was walking with Eugene and Gabriel, with Gabriel running briefly behind because he was talking to someone beforehand. "Beautiful woman, isn't she?" came Sophie in a serious but still cold tone, whereupon the woman flinched briefly because she hadn't expected someone to be standing next to her. "Oh uh yes" came the surprised but also slightly stuttering woman's reply. "Don't touch her, don't even think about it" came Sophie's cold but warning tone. Sophie has become much colder over the years but she is very cold towards others, especially when it comes to Rosita or Tara and the people who are Sophie's real name. "Oh I didn't mean to do anything" came the innocent tone, whereupon Sophie first looked at the woman. Shortly afterwards Eziekel came when he saw Sophie and the woman. "Is everything OK here? Are you finding your way around?" Eziekel asked as he first looked at Sophie and then at the woman who nodded. "I am King Eziekel." He said kindly as he held out his hand to the woman to shake it in a friendly manner. "Of course, I'm Deborah from Alexandria but call me Debby" came the woman's reply, which made Sophie really skeptical because after all, Sophie came from Alexandria and she had never seen this woman before, never..
When Sophie saw the target and the woman talking, she left because Sophie was convinced that Ezikiel already had it under control. Sophie had to smile slightly when she thought about having a movie night with Genry today because Sophie had been looking forward to it for a long time. In the evening, Rosita looked for Tara and Sophie but she couldn't find them anywhere, which made Rosita very worried. "Carol" Rosita then called when she saw Carol talking to someone, but Carol immediately turned around when she heard Rosita's voice. "Rosita, what's wrong?" Carol asked seriously immediately because she heard Rosita's concern, which definitely didn't mean anything good no matter what it was. "I can't find Sophie" was Rosita's quick answer, which made Carol's expression even more positive. "Have you looked at the cinema? She and Henry wanted to go to the cinema today," Carol said thoughtfully, whereupon Rosita immediately shook her head. "No, I've already looked, but I can't find any trace of Sophie and Tara anywhere," Rosita replied in a worried tone, whereupon Carol thought for a moment. "Now that you mention it, I haven't seen them since this afternoon, but I haven't seen Henry either... something isn't right here, and it's very wrong." came Carol's thoughtful but also very serious reply as she looked at Rosita, who nodded very worriedly. In the meantime, Sophie, who was unconscious, woke up in a barn. She was leaning against a door of the barn. Sophie slowly opened her eyes and looked around, walkers around her, Tara, Henry and others were also there. "What the..." came from Sophie, whereupon Tara immediately turned her attention to Sophie. "Sophie!" came Tara's worried reply, whereupon she immediately went to Sophie and crouched down. "Tara..?" Sophie asked, totally confused, as she looked around and saw that Enid and others were fighting against walkers who had come in. "Hey, it's fine," came Tara's reassuring reply as she freed Sophie's hands as they were tied together with some fabric, whereupon Sophie rubbed her wrists. "What happened?" Sophie asked as she slowly became clearer. "Alpha and her people surprised us while we were both on patrol, we found the batteries for your walkman, remember?" Tara explained seriously but still gently, to which Sophie nodded as she fell asleep at what had happened. "Can you stand?" Tara then asked as she helped Sophie up and Sophie nodded in response. "Hey, we'll find a way, I promise we'll go back to your mom," Tara said seriously but still determinedly. "We just have to find a way out," Tara added. So Sophie and Tara helped the others kill the walkers, but there were more and more of them. Suddenly Sophie saw Alpha standing in the middle of the crowd of walkers, but there were a few whisperers with her. Sophie had a feeling that these weren't the only whisperers there. Alpha looked at Sophie and Sophie looked at her too. Then screams were heard, more than could already be heard because of the walkers. Then Sophie turned around and saw that there really were more whisperers there and that they were helping the walkers to kill people, so to speak. Sophie watched in shock as one of the whisperers killed Henry and then cut off his head with a machete while Henry fought against the walker. Sophie looked on in shock but couldn't do anything. When a whisperer tried to attack Sophie, she killed him with her knife, whereupon the whisperer immediately fell to the ground. The whole thing continued like this for a while until Enid and a few others died. It seemed as if a small exit was finally free. Sophie killed Walker until Tara, who was not far away, pushed Sophie lightly towards the exit. "Get out of here," Tara said seriously as she looked at Sophie, who then looked at Tara in shock. "Without you? Forget it!" Sophie said loudly as she went to Tara. "Sophie, please...get out of here...listen to me this once, we both know we can't both make it out of here, so you go back to Rosita, you have to be sure," Tara said seriously as she continued to look at Sophie. "Tara, but..." Sophie tried to say as tears ran down her cheeks, but Tara interrupted her. "No buts," Tara said, but still gently. "I love you, don't forget that, you were always like my own daughter," Tara said sadly as she pulled Sophie into a hug that Sophie immediately returned. Tara then pushed Sophie lightly towards the exit, whereupon Sophie went to the exit and turned around after a few seconds to look for Tara, but at that moment the same thing happened to her as Henry and Enid... Tara would be killed and her head cut off. Sophie took steps back and then ran into the forest to be safe. Sophie ran into the forest where she stopped after a while and took a breath because she had been trying to suppress her crying the whole time. At some point Sophie stopped and sat against a tree where she wiped away her tears. How much she would like to just cry and let out everything that is bothering her. Abraham's death still haunts Sophie just like Carl's, suddenly everything she had been through is coming back to her. The thing at Terminus, when Abrahams left Sophie and Rosita, all the people who died or who died for Sophie. It's all coming back to her and now Tara has died too, she was like a second mother to Sophie, she had known Sophie since she was about 6-7 years old... On top of that, Sophie's boyfriend Henry had died... Sophie breathed in and out a few times until she suddenly heard voices. Sophie looked in the direction the voices were coming from but these voices sounded familiar. The voices were getting louder and there was no longer any doubt, it was Michonne, Carol, Daryl, Yumiko, Siddiq and even Michael was there. Sophie stood up when the group was in sight. "Sophie," Carol said with relief as she and the others said as Sophie stood up. Carol then approached Sophie before pulling the girl into a hug. "They're dead... All of them..." Sophie mumbled desperately into the hug. "I know..." Carol said gently but also in an understanding tone, she already knew that Henry, Enid, Tara and the others were dead and that it was precisely Henry that Carol took with her but Sophie went first and Carol knew that. "How..." Sophie asked quietly. "You and Tara disappeared during your patrol and never came back, the others were gone too and you're here alone so it's the only logical explanation, besides Alpha wouldn't spare anyone without a reason," Carol explained gently but also with suppressed anger. After a moment, Carol broke away from the hug and then the group walked until they suddenly arrived in a field where there were long branches/wooden skewers in the ground but on them were heads....Tara...Enid...Henry...And all the others who were in the barn with Sophie earlier...
Carol slowly walked towards Henry's head which was impaled on the long branch but Daryl held her back and turned her away so she didn't have to see it before he hugged her from behind. "Don't look, you've already seen enough" came Michonne's sympathetic response as she also turned Sophie away when Michonne saw that Sophie was looking at the impaled heads. Yumiko and Siddiq also looked shocked and sad while Micheal didn't see it at all as he had immediately looked away. Sophie suddenly released herself from Michonne's grip and went to one of the heads, Tara's head. You could see that she was still alive as a walker, well more like a walker's head because you could see how her mouth was still moving. Sophie stood on tiptoe and carefully took Tara's head off before she took out her knife. Then Sophie stabbed Tara's head with the knife, Sophie simply didn't want Tara to be alive as a walker. Daryl and Yumiko did this with the remaining heads while the rest except for Michael looked on sadly. Then the three, Yumiko, Daryl and Sophie, dug holes in front of the branches where the heads were and put them in, it was better than no grave. After a while the group made their way back to the kingdom.
