The Flower and Major

Part 18

"I'll be back later." I called out. 

"Be safe!" He called back. "There's been bear sightings." 

"I will." I called. "Love you!" 

I walked out the door without waiting for a reply. I had decided to take a hike through the woods to clear my mind. Bella was of course hanging out with Jake. I'm glad that he's helping her through this time. Better than what I could do. I wave at Mr. Marks before I had disappeared through the trees.

I had decided to stop in a good spot and draw. I was currently drawing a vision that I had earlier. It's one that I was keeping to myself. It was of Jacob phasing into a wolf. I look up hearing a twig snap. No one was around oddly enough. It was probably an animal. 

"Jasper Whitlock's true mate." A feminine voice taunted. "I really ought to kill you." 

I looked up to see a woman with blood red eyes. She gave me a smirk throwing the overcoat she was wearing to the ground. She was about to pounce when a black wolf attacked her followed by two other wolves. My eyes widened as I locked eyes with the grey one.

"Paul?" I whispered shocked. 

The wolf pauses a moment before he takes off to deal with the vampire. I grabbed the coat she was wearing and my eyes widened. It looked to be Jasper's overcoat in the pictures he had of himself as Major. That was her. Maria. Quickly pulling my phone out I dialed his number. It rang twice before he picked up. 

"What's up Suga'?" He asked. 

"Maria." I say shakily.

"What do you mean?" He asked worried.

"Maria, was here in Forks." I stated. "I was walking through the woods and sat down to draw when a female spoke, 'Jasper Whitlock's true mate'." 

"Are you sure it was her darlin'?" He asked panicked.

"Yeah, she was about to attack me and threw off an overcoat." I say. "The one you told me you had given her when you thought she was your mate." 

"Darlin'." He says. "I'm coming home." 

"Jasper..." I say. "What about Edward? You said he's the one that wants you to stay away from Bella." 

"The boy is too big for his britches." Jasper stated in a thick southern accent. "I'll be home soon, Suga." 

"What the hell does that mean?" I laughed.

"Wouldn't you like to know, Darlin'." He laughed.

"The wolves are after Maria." I say. "I'll see you when you get here." 

"I love ya darlin." He says.

"I love you too, Jazz." I say before hanging up. 

I was putting away my sketchbook and grabbed the overcoat. I rushed to get to my feet and take off running toward home when someone yelled out for me. 

"Lily!" Paul called out.

I stopped running and turned toward Paul to see him, Jared, and Sam all standing there. They looked at me with concern. 

"Why are you holding that dead leech's coat?" Paul questioned.

"So it is true." I say. "The stories." 

"Yes." Paul nodded. "Now, answer my question." 

"It wasn't hers to begin with." I say. "You killed her?" 

"Yes." Sam nodded. 

"It's Jasper's coat." I say. "He had given it to the woman, Maria, after she turned him. Thought they were in love." 

"He's coming back, isn't he?" Jared asked.

"Yes." I nodded. "He didn't want to leave in the first place." 

I turned in the direction of my Dad yelling for me. 

"Go home, Lily." Sam says. "Just don't tell Bella what you found out." 

"Okay." I nodded. "Tell Emily I said, hello."

Sam gave me a smile as I turned back heading home.

I emerged from the forest to see only my mustang, bike, and Dad's truck sitting in the front of the house. Bella still must be with Jake. I walked up to see Dad talking with... Jasper on the front porch. 

"Jazzy!" I cried out running to him and jumping into his arms.

"I missed you darlin." He sighed.

Jasper set me down on my feet as I turned to see Dad who had a smile on his face.

"Jasper and I were just talking, we're not going to mention him being back to Bella just yet." Dad says. "She's just now getting better." 

"Of course." I nodded. "Is it okay if I go to his house and help him settle in." 

"You're eighteen, Lily." Dad laughed. "Have fun, not too much fun though, I'm too young to be a grandpa." 

I blushed jumping down from Jasper's arms. I hand him the keys to his Mustang before we both head to the car climbing in.

Jasper turned off the car as soon as we got into the garage. Before he could get out I was unbuckled and climbing over the console onto his lap. Jasper smiled up at me pressing his lips to mine. I hummed wrapping my arms around his neck pulling him closer.

"I love you." I whispered against against his lips.

"I love you too." He sighed.

Jasper pulled away brushing my hair from my eyes. It had gotten longer the past few months. He held me tightly as he climbed out of the car. I let out a squeal as he ran through the house. Giggling I pulled him into a kiss as soon as we got to his room. Jasper let a growl out into the kiss as he tossed me onto the bed.

I laid with my head against Jasper's bare chest as he ran his cold fingers along my spine. My fingers were tracing against one of his scars. Turning my head to look up at him, I pressed a gentle kiss to his jaw. Jasper smiled down at me pressing his lips to mine.

"She's dead." I whispered pulling away. "Paul confirmed it." 

Jasper nodded rolling us over so he laid on me with his head on my chest. I smiled running my fingers through his hair. I missed his cold touch so much.
