Alaric's POV

As I stand in front of the full-length mirror, adjusting my wedding suit for what feels like the hundredth time, the designer leaves the room. I had asked for a moment alone to gather my thoughts before the big day begins.

After the designer leaves, I turn to my phone, which lies on the bedside table. I've been trying to call Ian repeatedly, but there's no answer. My heart races as I think about the message he sent me last night.

It's brief and unsettling: he won't be able to attend the wedding and suggests that I ask my cousin Max to be the best man in his place. He says he'll see me at the reception, but his message leaves me feeling uneasy.

I dial Ian's number again, my fingers trembling slightly as I press the call button. It rings and rings, but as always, he doesn't pick up. Each unanswered call adds to my mounting anxiety. I can't shake the feeling that something is terribly wrong.

Frustrated and anxious, I decide to call Kevin, my assistant. He's been working tirelessly to track down Ian and gather information, but so far, his efforts have yielded nothing. I need answers, and I need them now.

"Kevin, have you found any information about Ian?" I ask, trying to keep my voice steady despite the rising panic in my chest.

"No, sir. I'm still looking into it. I'm doing my best," Kevin replies, his voice sounding distant and disheartened.

"Your best isn't good enough!" I snap, my frustration boiling over. "I want results, Kevin! Now!"

I end the call abruptly, throwing the phone onto the bed with a thud. The sound seems to echo through the empty room, and I feel a surge of anger and helplessness. I'm supposed to be getting married today, a day that should be filled with joy and celebration, but instead, I'm plagued by a sense of dread and confusion.

Pacing back and forth across the room, I try to make sense of everything that's happening in my life. My grandmother's recent attack, Ian's mysterious disappearance, and now the looming wedding—all of it feels like a storm converging upon me.

I can't shake the feeling that something is terribly wrong, and the wedding, which should have been a highlight of my life, now feels like a hollow charade.

The grandeur of the room, the opulent decorations, and the meticulous attention to detail all seem to mock me. I can hardly take in the beauty of the setting when my mind is so consumed by worry and uncertainty. The wedding should have been a joyous occasion, but all I can think about is the chaos and confusion engulfing my life.

I think about Ian. He was someone I'd counted on for support and companionship. His sudden absence from the wedding is not only unexpected but deeply troubling. I can't understand why he isn't here, especially given the circumstances. His message has been vague and cryptic, leaving me with more questions than answers.
