AFTER ONE YEAR

ESTELLA'S POV

"Yes, I am still busy finding the best dress, don't worry, Alaric," I said into my phone, smiling. Just as I was about to say more, someone snatched my phone.

"Don't call Estella!" Charlotte said, cutting the call.

Charlotte looked panicked. "God, what is wrong with this Alaric? Can't he wait? Why is he making so many calls to you?"

I laughed a little but quickly stopped when I saw her worried face. "Forget about it! See how this dress looks?" she asked, holding up a gown.

I shook my head no. Charlotte's eyes widened, and she began to panic even more. "God, Charlotte, control yourself," I said calmly, holding her shoulders.

I turned to the saleswoman. "Can you please show us more dresses?"

The saleswoman nodded and went to the back. Meanwhile, Charlotte kept pacing. "Don't worry, we will find the best dress for you," I said.

Charlotte sighed heavily. "We've been to so many shops already, and I still haven't found the perfect wedding dress!"

Her voice trembled as she continued, "What if I never find it, Estella? It's my wedding dress—it has to be perfect !"

I smiled at her. "Yes, you all heard it right, wedding! My best friend, my Lottie, is getting married to Ian."

I tried to console her. "We will find the dress. Don't panic so much. Ian is going to love whatever you wear because you'll look beautiful." Charlotte finally smiled a little but still looked worried.

After a few minutes, the saleswoman returned with a new dress. I handed it to Charlotte. "Now, go try this one," I said with a grin.

Charlotte nodded and went into the trial room with the saleswoman. I waited outside, my mind wandering to all the amazing things that had happened this year. It still feels like a dream.

Ian's proposal to Charlotte was one of the best days ever. The whole thing was so beautiful. Me and Alaric helped Ian set up the surprise. Ian proposed to Charlotte on her birthday at a private beach. There were fairy lights, candles, and her favorite flowers everywhere. Ian was so nervous! Poor guy was sweating so much, and when Charlotte said yes, he almost fainted!

Me and Alaric couldn't hold back our excitement. We started jumping and cheering as soon as Charlotte said yes. Then me and charlotte cried together, happy tears, of course.

This year has been incredible for me too. After finishing my therapy, I went back to work. It felt amazing to put on my scrubs again and help patients. Last month, I even got a promotion!

And the best part? My relationship with Alaric has grown so much deeper. He's not just my best friend anymore, he's my boyfriend. And honestly, he's the best boyfriend anyone could ever ask for.

Once, I caught a terrible fever and couldn't even get out of bed. Alaric stayed with me the entire time, making sure I was comfortable. He cooked me soup, kept my water bottle filled, and even read to me when I was too tired to focus. He read one of my favorite novels, and even though he stumbled over some words, it made me laugh. His presence made me feel better faster than any medicine could.

Another time,  I came home after a long and exhausting day at work. When I got home, the delicious aroma of pasta filled the air. Alaric was in the kitchen, wearing an apron and looking as confident as ever. He had cooked my favorite meal—creamy Alfredo pasta with garlic bread. I couldn't stop smiling as we sat down to eat. "You're amazing," I told him. He just winked and said, "I know."
