CHAPTER-39 The Quest for Ember

ESTELLA'S POV

The flight seemed long, but we finally landed in Los Angeles. It was already late in the evening when we reached Los Angeles. We took a taxi to the hotel and settled in. We checked into our rooms. I messaged Ian that we had reached Los Angeles. We decided to take a shower since there was only one bathroom. 

Charlotte went first while I ordered dinner for us. After a few minutes, Charlotte returned, and then I went to take a shower. After finishing, I came into the living room and found that dinner had already arrived. Charlotte and I ate dinner and discussed our plans.

The next morning, we decided to check out the company where Ember had worked before. Charlotte said, "We need to be careful, Estella. We don't know what we might find there." I nodded and replied, "I know, Charlotte. But we have to do this. For the truth and for my career."

We headed to the address, a great fashion company. Charlotte mentioned, "Wow, it looks like Ember was really accomplishing her dream, but she left such a company." I said, "Let's check first." We went inside and asked the receptionist if she knew Ember.

The receptionist looked at us curiously. "Ember? Yes, she used to work here a few years ago. Why are you looking for her?" I said, "Actually, we need to give back her bag, which we accidentally found in the metro." 

The receptionist mentioned, "Well, she was already terminated from her job." We asked, "Can you please give us some address or phone number? Please, it is urgent." 

The receptionist shook her head and said, "Sorry, we don't share private information." I felt disappointed, but all of sudden Charlotte,start complimenting the receptionist dress, "Oh my God, your dress is beautiful."

 I rolled my eyes and looked towards Charlotte, ready to scold her for praising the dress, but she winked at me. I understood what she was doing, as Charlotte works in the fashion industry she knew how to approach people .

 "Oh wow, your dress is beautiful. If I remember correctly, it's from the famous brand Chanel. Wow, it suits you," she continued. 

The receptionist looked flattered by Charlotte's praise. She mentioned secretly to us, "Well, you both are wonderful people. Let me tell you, Ember was terminated from this job last year because she was having an affair with a guy from a rival company and giving him our new project ideas." 

Charlotte replied, "Oh really, she is very bad." The receptionist said, "I don't have her current residence address, but here is her phone number, and you might find her at Doze Cafe." Charlotte and I thanked her and left the company.

We tried to call the number, but it was not available. We decided to check the cafe. We took a taxi, and while riding towards the cafe, Charlotte mentioned, "Wow, this Ember is still a bitch, she stole her company ideas." I said, "Let's forget about this. It is her life. We only need the truth, nothing else." Charlotte nodded her head.

At the same time, Ian called me. "Oh, hey Estella, I just checked your message. Are you both alright?" I replied, "Yes, we are alright." He asked, "Any lead?" I mentioned, "Actually , Ember was terminated from her job last year." 

Ian shouted, "Damn it." I said, "Ian, but we found her number, which is not working, but the receptionist mentioned a cafe. We are going there." 

Ian said, "Okay, please take care of yourself. I will try to reach Los Angeles the next day."
