AUTHOR'S POV

Alaric takes his seat beside Ian. The dinner feels awkward. Estella is thinking about leaving, and she's about to say something when Mrs. Easterwood orders Albert to arrange the food. Albert begins to set the table, and Mrs. Easterwood says, "Today, I especially requested my chef to make Spaghetti Carbonara for Ian, Chicken Parmesan for Charlotte, and for my lovely Estella, I asked for Tiramisù."

She gently pats Estella's hand and adds, "I still remember how much my Estella loves Tiramisù when I make it by hand. I can't cook much anymore, but once I'm better, I'll prepare every dish for my children again."

Hearing this, Estella reconsiders her decision to leave. She thinks to herself, "Why am I even thinking of leaving because of Alaric's presence? This is wrong. Grandmother especially arranged this dinner and asked me to attend. No, I will enjoy this dinner for her sake." Estella then pats her grandmother's hand and says, "Thank you, Granny, for inviting me".

Throughout this exchange, Alaric is silently observing Estella and his grandmother. He can't understand why his grandmother invited Estella, knowing that she feels uncomfortable around him, especially since his grandmother had advised him to give Estella some time before apologizing to her.

They start eating dinner, enjoying the food while chit-chatting with each other.

Only Charlotte, Ian, and Mrs. Easterwood are talking much, while Estella and Alaric mostly nod their heads and converse a little with Ian, Charlotte, and Mrs. Easterwood. Everyone seems to be enjoying the dinner, and after they finish eating, they move to the living room to sit with Mrs. Easterwood. There, they continue chatting, sharing funny incidents from their college days, personal lives, and professional experiences.

After some time, Estella excuses herself, mentioning that she needs to use the washroom. Mrs. Easterwood instructs Albert to show Estella the way. Albert nods and leads Estella towards the washroom.

As they walk, Estella takes in her surroundings, noting how the entire house's interior reflects Alaric's taste. She recalls how, during their teenage days, Alaric would always talk about the kind of house he wanted to buy, mentioning white and blue interiors, a swimming pool, and game rooms for himself, Ian, and their friends. Back then, they would often dream together about their future lives.
