AUTHOR'S POV
Ian, Charlotte, and Alaric hurried into Alaric's study room. They all looked worried, their faces tense. Alaric quickly turned on his laptop and plugged in the pen drive Estella had sent. The screen flickered for a moment before a single video file appeared. Alaric stared at it for a second and then clicked on the file.
The video began to play. The screen showed Estella sitting in a small, dimly lit room. Her face was serious and tired, and she looked directly into the camera.
"If you are watching this," Estella said in the video, her voice shaking slightly, "it means I am in danger. Guys, you are my only hope. Please, take this evidence to the Medical Council and the media. They need to know the truth."
The video changed. Now, the camera showed a dark, underground basement. The footage was shaky, and it seemed like Estella had been hiding while recording it. The basement was large and filled with people working on strange things.
The camera zoomed in on workers carefully removing wrappers from expired medicine boxes and replacing them with new labels, making the drugs look fresh. In another part of the room, men were packing human body parts into different boxes. It was a horrifying sight. A man stood nearby, inspecting everything closely.
Ian, Charlotte, and Alaric froze in their spots, unable to believe what they were seeing. Ian whispered, "What the hell is this...?"
Behind the man giving orders, Dr. Robert appeared on the screen, watching everything and directing the workers.
Alaric's eyes widened as he pointed at the screen. "I know this guy he whispered, his voice sharp. "That's Dr. Robert. He's the current vice president of the hospital. I saw him during the police questioning."
Alaric's gaze remained fixed on the video, his expression darkening as the scene continued.
The video then ended with Estella's voice again. "These are the illegal activities happening in the basement of the hospital. No one knows about this. I found out by accident, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This needs to stop. Please, report this as soon as possible."
The screen went black, and the room fell completely silent.
Charlotte's voice finally broke the silence. "Oh my God!!! What... what did we just see?" Her voice was shaking, and her hands trembled. "Human body parts? Expired medicines? This is unbelievable!"
Ian sat down slowly, scratching his head. "I don't get it. How did Dr. Vincent not know about this huge racket going in the basement of his hospital? He's the head doctor at the hospital, isn't he?"
Charlotte nodded. "Maybe this all happened while Dr. Vincent was out of New York. Remember? He's been out of the country for three months now. Dr. Robert could have been running this operation during that time."
Charlotte looked at Alaric and Ian. "We need to tell Dr. Vincent. He has to know about this. Maybe he can help us stop this racket and find Estella."
Alaric shook his head firmly. "No, we can't do that. Not yet."
Charlotte looked surprised. "Why not? Dr. Vincent would want to help us."
Alaric sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Listen to me. I trust Dr. Vincent. I know he would help if he could. But right now, we can't take any risks. If Dr. Vincent gets involved, he might end up in danger, just like us. We don't know how many people are behind this racket. This is bigger than we thought."
Charlotte opened her mouth to argue, but Alaric continued. "Think about it, Charlotte. Last night, you and Ian were in that car accident. Don't you think it's connected to all of this? You , Ian and I are the closest to Estella. Dr. Robert might think we have the evidence, or maybe he's trying to target us . We have to be careful. We can't trust anyone right now."
