AUTHOR'S POV
It had been two long and painful days since Estella went missing. Everyone was worried about her, especially Alaric, Ian, and Charlotte. Ian stayed home to take care of Charlotte, who was struggling to stay calm. Meanwhile, Alaric joined the police officers at the hospital to help with the investigation. He wanted to do everything he could to find Estella.
The hospital, usually a place full of life and care, felt tense. Nurses, doctors, and residents whispered among themselves, their faces full of worry. Estella was loved by her colleagues. Her kind nature and dedication had earned their respect. Now, her absence left everyone feeling uneasy.
The police officers started questioning the staff. They spoke to nurses, residents, and senior doctors, trying to piece together what happened. Alaric stood nearby, watching and listening to every word.
In the break room, one police officer questioned a young nurse.
Officer: "When did you last see Dr. Estella?"
Nurse: "It was Monday afternoon. She was in the ICU. She smiled at me and said hello, like she always does."
Officer: "Did you notice anything strange about her behavior or anyone acting suspicious around her?"
Another Doctor: "No, sir. She seemed fine, like always. Dr. Estella is such a kind person. I can't imagine anyone wanting to harm her."The officer nodded, jotting down notes. They moved on to question other staff members, but no one had anything unusual to report.
Finally, the police officers approached Dr. Robert, He was sitting calmly in his office, waiting for his turn to be questioned.
Officer: "Dr. Robert, when did you last see Dr. Estella?"
Dr. Robert: "I didn't see her on Monday. I believe she was busy with her rounds. We usually cross paths, but not that day."
Officer: "Did Dr. Estella have any conflicts with anyone? Or do you know if someone had a problem with her?"
Dr. Robert: "No, not at all. She was always kind and professional. Everyone here respects her. I just hope she's alright."The officer wrote everything down carefully. Dr. Robert's calm demeanor seemed natural, but Alaric couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Dr. Robert's words were polite and reassuring, yet something in his tone made Alaric uneasy.
After the questioning, Dr. Robert spoke to the officers, his voice steady and authoritative. "I understand the need for your investigation, but I hope you'll wrap this up soon. Too much police presence might harm the hospital's atmosphere, which is not good for our patients."
The officers exchanged glances, nodded, and agreed to leave the premises after finishing their questioning. Alaric followed them, his thoughts still racing. As they exited the hospital, Alaric glanced back and noticed Dr. Robert watching them leave. His face was composed, but his eyes held something darker.
Inside his office, Dr. Robert clenched his fists. "I have to find that video soon," he thought, panic flashing through his mind. "Otherwise, this is going to be a big mess. Where the hell did that stupid Estella hide the evidence?"
Outside the hospital, Alaric and the officers were heading toward their cars when Alaric saw Vincent entering the hospital. Vincent, usually calm and cheerful, looked concerned when he spotted Alaric with the police.
"Alaric?" Vincent called out, walking quickly toward him. "Is everything alright? What are you doing here with the police?"
Alaric hesitated, his heart sinking as he prepared to share the devastating news. "Vincent... Estella has been missing for two days."
