As soon as I entered the room, the sight of her brought me to my knees. She was curled up on the floor, in the corner of the bed, her legs drawn up to her chest, hands desperately pressed against her ears. Her eyes were tightly shut, but tears were flowing uncontrollably down her cheeks. Her entire body was trembling violently, and she was mumbling softly, her breaths coming in sharp, uneven gasps.

It was clear she was going through another terrifying attack. For the past week, these nightmares and episodes had been haunting her, and seeing her like this was almost too much to bear.

I rushed to her, my heart aching with every step. I gently shook her shoulder, trying to break through the fear that gripped her. “Shivangi, it’s me, Rocky,” I said, my voice filled with concern. “I’m here. You’re safe. No one can hurt you. Please, open your eyes and look at me.”

“No, no, no, please don’t come close. I’m sorry,” she whispered in a voice trembling with fear. Watching her like this was unbearable. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close in a desperate attempt to offer some comfort. “Shivangi, you’re safe. Nothing can hurt you while I’m here,” I whispered, hoping my words would bring her some peace.

She clung to my shirt with a fierce grip, as though trying to hold on to me would stop the nightmare replaying in her mind. “Ro-rocky, pl-please s-save me. Rock-rocky, please,” she cried out, her voice breaking as she sobbed uncontrollably.

Seeing her in such pain made tears stream down my own face. I fought to stay strong, knowing that if I broke down, who would be there to help her through this? I had to be her anchor, even if my heart is breaking with every moment.

I held her close, feeling her body shiver with every sob. Her cries were heart-wrenching, and I struggled to keep my own emotions in check as tears slipped down my cheeks.

“Shivangi, I’m here. I won’t leave you. I promise,” I repeated softly, my voice trembling. I gently stroked her hair, trying to offer any comfort I could, even though I felt helpless against the weight of her pain.

Her grip on my shirt remained tight, her face buried against my chest. Her cries slowly began to soften, the intensity of her distress giving way to exhaustion. Her body still trembled, but now, amidst the quieting sobs, I could feel her breaths growing more steady and rhythmic.

Minutes passed, and I noticed her breathing becoming more regular, her cries fading into soft, intermittent sobs. Her grip on my shirt loosened, and she gradually fell into a fitful sleep, her body still pressed against mine.

I continued to hold her, my own tears mingling with the quiet of the room. Despite her troubled sleep, she looked peaceful now, as though she had found some temporary relief from the torment that had gripped her.

I carefully picked her up from the floor and gently laid her down on the bed. I tucked the blanket around her, making sure she was warm and comfortable. Just as I was about to get up and leave, her grip on my shirt tightened. In her sleep, she mumbled, “Don’t leave me, please.” Her voice was filled with fear, and it broke my heart to hear her like that.

I sat back down beside her and took her hand, trying to offer some comfort. As I relaxed, I must have fallen asleep myself. However, my sleep was interrupted by the sound of her distress.

I woke to find her in the midst of a nightmare. She was crying in her sleep, her face twisted in fear. Her cries were heart-wrenching, “No, no, Rudra, no, please leave me, it’s hurting.” Her words were broken and filled with terror, and she was clearly trapped in a painful dream.
