chapter 28

Johnny shot his head up. Not expected at all to see who he saw.

Kreese. And Dutch.

His sensei kreese. And that asshole Dutch.

Johnny quickly looked back to Johnny and quickly stood up, facing his back to his sensei. His heart beating fast. He didn't know why he was so nervous, he was just speaking to daniel.

But at the same time he felt a strong nervous lump in his throat.

Johnny remembered what Dutch said he was going to do. Johnny didn't reallly believe it, especially after a few days had passed but now here Dutch was stood by the side of his sensei with that annoying cocky smirk.

Johnny wanted to punch it off his face.

Daniel had stayed sat on the ground, his eyes flicking from kreese, to Dutch back to Johnny, who was clearly trying hard not to turn around. Daniel hoped they would just pass through and not reconise Johnny or daniel but from the way neither of the two where moving daniel strongly doubted his thoughts.

"Johnny.." Kreese said, his tone half questioning, but his tone was clear that he already knew it was Johnny.

Johnny stayed firm in his spot, not turning around as he ballled his fist up into a fist before telling himself to relax.

It might be nothing.

He let his hand relax and turned around. Bowing slightly as his eyes met his sensei's, he couldn't tell kreeses emotions but he definitely could tell Dutch's as he glared into his ex friends cocky skeleton painted face to match his own.

"Yes.. Sensei.. " he said slowly. His mind not forgetting Dutchs words as they circled round his head. He shouldn't worry, it couldnt be about that.

Kreese smiled slightly before his attention seemed to trail over to Daniel who looked like a small kid, still sat on the ground, unsure of what to do.

Kreese took a step forward, closer to Johnny, his eyes staying on his this time.

"So..what are you doing out here with him then.. " kreese said his eyes gazing over to Daniel, seemingly to have forgotten his name as his eyes drew back to Johnny.

Johnnys own eyes whent back into Daniel before back on to his sensei, struggling to block out Dutchs annoying mocking pout. Johnny remembered the time Daniel had come to there dojo and brought his own sensei causing the two to speak. Johnny couldn't remember the whole conversation, this couple of weeks had been busy...

But Johnny could tell kreese hadn't liked Daniel bringing his sensei to his dojo.

"We.. Where just talking sensei.. You know that drama.. It's no biggie now" Johnny said, a few pauses in between as he figured his words out.

"Mm.. Just talking?.. I see... You've got it all sorted out, your.. Friends now are you?" Kreese said a slight mocking tone to his voice as he glared at Johnny and Daniel. A cruel mocking look in his eyes. Taking a long pause before he said the word 'friends' as if it was hard to say.

Johnny looked down for a moment, he didn't want to disappoint his sensei but it was true. Surely kreese would be okay with that, it wasn't his business anyway.

Johnny looked back into his sensei's eyes  and nodded.

"Yeah.. There's no problem now" Johnny said confidently and Dutch let out a small chuckle.

Kreese's eyes seemed to darken as he took another step forward.

"You think... You can fight your now so called.. Friend in the tordiment.." Kreese said lowly into johnnys ear. Johnny had completely forgot about the tordiment, the place where the cobra Kai's where going to beat daniel,and all the other karate dojos. That's what his and Daniels sensei had talked about.

Johnny swallowed hard before letting out a small scoff, it was only a fight to get a trophy, plus Daniel would know he didn't mean to beat him up again.

Kreese glared harder at johnnys scoff and grabbed the back of johnnys hair making Johnny gasp a little. Fear creeping into him.

"Oh Johnny.." Kreese said with a small chuckle.

"You can't be friends with the enemy.. And look who your enemy is.. " he said with a dark chuckle, turning johnnys head to look at Daniel who had now stood up and was standing there awkwardly.

Johnny bit down hard on his jaw as he looked into Daniels eyes, he looked confused and nervous. Johnny wanted to tell him it was okay but he couldn't. He wasn't even sure if it was.

Kreese turned johnnys head back to face him.

"And your... Friends are your team" kreese said holding a hand out to Dutch who was still smirking with his arms crossed over him.

Johnny balled up his fist again, that jerk of course he had to get in the way.

"I hate that idiot" Johnny mumbled under his breath and kreese right need his grip.

"You listen to me dont you Lawrence.. You want to be the best don't you?" Kreese said slowly and Johnny turned his attention back to him. Johnny knew his answer it was a definite yes.

"Yeah.. I am the best.." He said confidently and kreese loosened his grip and patted Johnny on the shoulder.

"Good.. So your stay away from your enemies then.. What do I say they deserve Lawrence?." Kreese said a smirk coming onto his face as he put his hands back behind his back.

It was almost like Johnny could feel his old self creeping back, sprawling back down into kreese's mind controlling.

It was already to late.

It had been too late since the day he joined cobra kai.

"No mercy, sensei" he said automatically like a robot of some kind.

Johnny still didn't understand fully, but kreese's lessons where carved into his mind. He didn't want to go against kreese. Kreese was the one adult he had in life. He couldn't mess things up.

Even if that meant losing Daniel.

Kreese smiled and nodded a good before leading Johnny over to Dutch who put his arm over his shoulder.

Johnny looked at Dutch a surprised look in his eye. He didn't want this lower touching him. He had to work with him though. They where... A team.

"Cobra kai never dies" Dutch said quietly , putting his face close to johnnys. Johnny stared at him for a few seconds.

He couldn't get rid of himself.

He couldn't be with Daniel.

This was him, he was cobra kai and Daniel larusso had his own karate, myagi whatever.

It didn't matter. Non of it ever mattered.

Johnny looked back behind him for a second but Daniel larusso was no where to be seen. It hurted that Daniel was gone but maybe it was better if he stayed like that. Johnny looked back at Dutch and smirked slightly.

"Cobra kai never dies" he repeated.

The three walked over to kreese's car. Johnny leaving the start of the best night ever in ruins.

All he had was karate. All that mattered was karate.

And the pain... Well it felt numbed down like he wouldn't actually realise how bad it would hurt, until he had to forget.
