She placed both palms on his broad chest that pleaded with her to run her hand through, but she had to control herself.

Gently pushing him backwards, she broke from the kiss, but they were just inches apart, he stared down at her, locking their gaze.

If her thoughts wasn't wandering to Zeekle and their child, she'd allow herself to be lost in those perfect eyes of his.

She could see nothing but apology and pleading with her to listen to him, reading from his eyes.

But hers held nothing but anger and hurt.

“How did you get here?” She asked in a stern tone, but he seemed unaffected.

“A guard of mine sighted you around the area,” his tone was low, it coated her skin in goosebumps, “I knew Sarah was the only place you could've gone to so I called her and she told me everything.”

Sarah obviously couldn't keep secrets. Reil made a mental note not to reveal any deep secrets to her.

“She gave me the keys to her house saying she was embarrassed to see you since she'd promised not to tell anyone about your whereabout, so Bill took her somewhere.” He sounded like he couldn't care less about where they left.

She was really aware of the closeness, his scent danced around her nose giving her a feeling of warmth.

She hesitantly took two steps backwards. “You should leave.” She looked any where but at him as she felt if she did, she'd break down.

“I can't.” He still maintained the soft tone.

She furrowed her brows, crossing her arms over her chest. “What? Why?” Not that she expected him to leave soon.

“Because I love you.”

She snorted. “Yeah, probably the same thing you said to Zeekle.”

He groaned, running a hand through his hair. “Listen, Zee and—”

“Zee?” She cut him off. They were on nicknames term?

Maybe it was the pregnancy getting to her or the outcome of how everything had been going for her, but she felt herself close to tears.

He nodded like he didn't get why she wouldn't know Zee. “Yeah, I want you to know there's nothing between the two of us.”

“Yeah, except you had sex with her, then lied you've never had sex, and there's some ‘Zee girl’” she air quoted the last two words. “and she appears with a four year old child and you expect me just just what? Listen to your lies?”

He winced. “I know, I'm sorry.” He sighed, “even I didn't know I had a child.”

She scoffed, dropping her hands. Gosh this guy was going to say anything to lie to her and deceive her again.

“Please leave.” She turned, thinking if she was to escape to the room and lock the door, he'd leave.

“How about your pregnancy?” His soft words stopped not only her movement, but her breathing and possibly her heartbeat.

She turned to him and could feel the color drain from her face.

He knew about the pregnancy? Was that why he'd come? Did he feel like he needed to take responsibility for her child?

She had tons of questions to ask, but decided to start with the main one. “How did you find out?”

He gave her a look that said he wanted her back and was filled with apologies.

“I went to your house—”

“You were at my house?” She cut him off, not intending to, but the question came out.

He nodded.

“How did you get in?” She raised an eyebrow, letting him know how annoyed at him she was.

“Ivy let me in.”

“Ivy?” He was talking to Ivy? Why? How? What?!

He nodded like that wasn't important. “Well, I searched your room and saw the test stick.” He sighed. “When were you planning on telling me?”

Finally able to breathe, she managed a shrug. “Maybe never. You already have a son, I don't think you'd need more.”

“Reil.” He sounded as tired as he looked, as he took a step forward, stopping when she took one backwards.

“Please Drix, please leave.” Her voice betrayed her and a drop of tear escaped from her.

He sighed. “I'm just grateful you're safe.” He took a step forward, but she didn't move back because she could sense he was leaving soon. “I promise I'll try my best to explain it all to you. Today, I'll let it go.”

He leaned in to plant a peck on her lips. “I love you and trust me, you're so beautiful.”

He seemed oblivious of the spark his lips had caused to her entire body.

“I'll be back soon.” Pivoting, he left the room, going out of sight.

She missed him, but she wasn't going to ignore the fact he had a child and a girlfriend.

She snorted. “Zee.”

Sarah walked in two hours later, seeming chuffed, which was so contrary to how Reil's body felt.

Sarah took a seat opposite her, leaning back against the chair with a wide grin planted on her face.

“Drix came.” Reil said, and if she'd expected any feeling of guilt from Sarah, she got none.

“Oh, did he?” Instead, Sarah winked. Like what?! “So, did you give the dude a chance to explain?”

Did she give him a chance to explain? What was there to explain though?

He lied meant he lied. No ‘buts’ or ‘ifs’ in the story.

“There's nothing for him to explain.” She sighed. “He should just go stay with Zeekle and take care of his Angle.”

Sarah sighed. “I'm sorry this had to happen to you, but I think you should also try to talk to him and listen to whatever he has to say.”

When she didn't reply, Sarah continued. “He obviously loves you, he's miserable without you.”

“I just want to compose myself before meeting him.” She knew she'd said that toms of times already in one week, but it was true.

Sarah rolled her eyes. “Have you eaten?”

She nodded. “I ate the meal you told me to.”

“Okay, I'll make dinner for us then.”

“Okay, thanks.”
