Reil knew she needed to have something to eat. If not for her own good, then for her child's.

The event that'd occured at the beach had irritated her enough to let her know she needed a place to stay till she cleared her mind.

She'd have stayed at a hotel if she hadn't lost her phone where she could make transactions.

She pressed the doorbell to the last place that came to mind.

She could have gone to her dad's place, but it felt too obvious to be found by Drix.

And the last thing she wanted was his lame excuses and apologies.

He had a child. Like what?

All those fucking lies about never having had sex were shit. He had a son and hid that from her.

Her thoughts suddenly drifted to her mom. Was this how Ivy felt when some woman just appeared at her doorstep with a child?

It was certainly vexatious. Sadly, Drix had done the same.

But this time, their story was different.

They'd only dated for two months, unlike her dad who'd been married for ten years.

So there was no reason for her to stay in the relationship that she thought was going to lead to marriage.

Except she was pregnant.

She winced, both from the thought and the ache she felt in her whole body, reminding her of the fact she hadn't eaten for a whole day nor had she slept in a comfortable way (if what she did could be considered sleeping).

The door swung open, and a gasp left Sarah. “Oh my gosh, Reil!”

Sarah stared her down, surprise and concern evident in her expression. “Where on earth have you been?”

She gently reached for Reil's hand like she'd break if she didn't touch her gently, pulling her into her house.

Sarah's house wasn't a mansion like Reil's, but it was cozy and always gave her a feeling of nostalgia.

It was like those types of houses old people lived in, with the old furniture, perfectly trimmed leaves outside, and the old chair that stayed outside where Sarah read a novel or knitted something.

Sarah directed Reil to one of her comfortable sofas where they took a seat beside each other.

“What happened to you?” There was genuine concern in her tone, and Reil found herself breaking down.

Tears flowed down her cheeks as memories of everything came running down her cheeks, her shoulders shaking.

Sarah gently patted her back, whispering, “it's okay. Let it all out.”

After a moment of her drowning in tears, she finally began drying her tears with the tissue Sarah had gotten for her.

“What happened?” She asked in a low and inviting tone that Reil couldn't help but spill it out.

She didn't know where to begin, but she said the first thing that'd been in her mind. “I'm pregnant.”

Sarah's gasp was loud enough to cause Sarah to wince.

“Oh my…” she went silent like she was trying to choose her next words very carefully, “do you know who the father is?”

The father.

Reil almost groaned at the thought of Drix. He didn't even know he was going to have another child.

Another child.

It was another, because he already had one and she didn't know about it.

She fought back the urge to break into tears again. That wasn't good for her health and her baby.

“You don't?” Sarah asked lowly, her tone filled with sympathy.

“No, I do.” Her voice was gruffy from the amount of tears she'd shed. “Drix is the father.”

“Drix?” She said his name like she wasn't sure who that was.

Well, it was understandable. She didn't have much connections with him so Reil explained.

“Drix Grayson, the CEO of the Rendox company we work with.”

Her gasp of recollection put Reil in the realization that she'd never actually told Sarah about her relationship with Drix.

“You two are in a relationship?” She sounded truly surprised, and looked the same.

Reil pitched her in on the details from how she met with Drix till how she ended up looking wretched in Sarah's house.

“Wait, you've dated him for only two months and you're pregnant?” It was obvious she didn't mean to sound judging, but Reil couldn't help her emotions taking it that way.

And it was true. She'd trusted him enough to have sex with him without protection.

“Now he has a child for someone else and he didn't let me know.” Tears poured down her cheeks again.

“Oh Reil,” Sarah pulled her to a calming hug, before pulling apart, “so where were you the whole day?”

She shrugged. “Just wandering around for a while.”

Sarah sighed, seeming really concerned. “Did you eat anything?”

When Reil shook her head, she creased her forehead. “All day? Why're you bring so careless? Don't forget you're pregnant.”

She rose to her feet. “I just baked some cookies, you can have them with a warm cup of tea.”

Gratitude filled Reil. “Thanks.”

Before Sarah left, she added. “Please don't tell anyone about my whereabouts.”

There was a hint of uncertainty in Sarah's expression. “Your family are really worried, you know? Don't stress them out because of this.”

“I promise I'll leave soon, I just want to gather my thoughts.” The last thing she wanted was the place filled with worried families and questions on how she was pregnant.

Also, she didn't want Drix giving her excuses. She needed to prepare herself for answers to questions when she got back.

Sarah nodded, still seeming uncertain. “Okay, but don't take time. They're really worried.”

“Thanks. I promise I'll pay you back for this.” Maybe a raise could help.

Sarah's expression softened. “I'm not doing this to be paid back. That's not what friends are for.”

Then she left to the kitchen, leaving Reil to think back to whatever had happened.
