It had been two hours since Sarah had gotten into the office and still hadn't seen a sign of Reil.

Where on earth was she? And why was she not answering her calls?

She didn't want to overreact and just guessed that she was still asleep. Maybe she slept late last night.

But then she decided to call Reil's house number. Just to be safe.

After the third ring, someone answered the call. “Hello. Miss Reil Sincol's house speaking.” A female that was probably the head of the phone spoke.

“Hey, it's Sarah.” She said, knowing they'd listen to what she said if they knew it was her. “Could you give the phone to Reil?”

“Uh, she's not around.” The female said, “she left yesterday evening and didn't come overnight. I assumed she went to Mr Sincol's house.”

“Oh, okay. Thanks.” She hung up, immediately dialing Sean's number.

He answered after the second ring.

“Sarah?” He sounded surprised to see her which was expected as she never called him.

“Good day sir, I just wanted to know if Reil is with you.” The formality she used to talk to him was something she'd gotten used to.

“Reil?” From his tone, she knew Reil wasn't with him and she didn't want to worry him. “She's not here, is everything alright?”

“Oh, I think I remember.” She feigned recalling. “She said she was going to a friend's place, there's no need to worry.”

“You sure?” The uncertainty in his tone was enough to make her twitchy.

“Yes, if I don't get through to her, I'll give you a call.”

“O—kay.”

She hung up.

Now she was worried. Where on earth could Reil be? Could she be at the Rendox company? Maybe she had things to do there.

She dialed Bill's number and he answered immediately like he'd been waiting for her call.

“Sarah, how're you?”

“Not fine.” She answered immediately, “Is Reil in your company?”

“No.” The way he'd said the no was a room for her to continue, but she didn't, instead she placed her palm on her forehead.

“Shit.” She murmured, then remembering that she was still calling, she continued, “please call if you hear a thing from her, okay?”

“Okay, but is something wrong?” He asked, seeming truly concerned.

“Yeah, Reil hasn't been seen since yesterday.”

“Oh my, you must be so worried.”

“Yeah, I am. I wonder where she is.” She sighed. “Please call if you find her.”

“I will.”

Then she hung up.

~~~~~~
“Who was that?” Drix asked as soon as Bill dropped his phone on the couch.
“Sarah called to let me know Reil's missing.” He shook his head. “She's really worried bla bla bla…”
But Drix wasn't listening anymore. Reil was missing? What? Where could she have gone to?
He didn't want to overreact or anything. She was an adult. She probably knew what she was doing.
He recalled the Jack situation. Was she annoyed about that? He'd ensured the skunk rot in jail so she shouldn't worry too much about it.
Maybe he was the one worrying too much about it. She was probably alright.
“Drix!” Bill snapped him out of his thoughts.
“Huh?” He didn't even realize Bill had been talking.
Rolling his eyes, he crossed his arms over his chest. “I said you have to attend the board meeting in ten minutes.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Has she been found?” Bill asked, his ears close to the phone, as he listened to Sarah who was on the other line. “Seriously?” Silence as Sarah was probably talking on the other line.. “Oh…” silence. “It's alright.” Silence. “Okay, bye then.”
He hung up, dropping his phone in the pocket of his pants.
“Has she been found?” Drix asked, trying to calm the negative thoughts that'd been disturbing his sanity since he was told.
Bill shook his head sympathetically. “They're still searching.”
“Shit.” It was eight in the night already and they were still searching.
He jumped to his feet, alarming Bill.
“What the fuck happened?” Bill asked, seeming to enter defense mode.
“I'm heading out. Bye.” He scurried out of the office, ignoring Bill who was calling him back.
He pressed the button to the elevator, entering it once the doors separated. They closed and he pressed the button to the first floor.
After a while, the elevator dinged and the doors separated.
He scurried out of it, and out of the company to his car, where he opened the door, closing it once he was in the driver's seat.
Starting the car, the engine roared then came to life as it began moving.
He hoped she was alright. He should've gone to check on her earlier. If she wasn't at home or anywhere that had been checked, maybe, just maybe, she was by the river she'd said she liked to go to clear her thoughts.
After a few minutes of driving, he pulled over, getting out of his car, he began running towards the direction of the river.
He hoped— no prayed —that she hadn't jumped into the river. Maybe Jack or someone else had done or said something to make her depressed.
He stopped when he saw something through the night light.
It was a figure, lying on the floor and looking— lifeless.
He scurried towards the figure and realized it was her.
Why was she laying on the floor like she was dead or something?
He stopped beside her. “Reil.”
Her eyes slowly opened and although it was dark, he could see she was miserable. Dark circles around her eyes, her face was swollen from probably endless hours of crying.
Her hair was packed in a rough ponytail and her clothes were wet and sandy.
She placed both elbows on the floor, so she could raise herself to a sitting position. “Of course it's you.” Her voice was hoarse and thick from all the tears.
He crouched beside her. What could have turned her to this?
“What happened?” He asked, worry evident in his tone.
She stared at him. “Drix,” she seriously sounded tired of life or depressed, “I envy you.”
“Huh?”
“I was recalling all the guys I've had sex with and I think they're probably up to a hundred.” She huffed, “I'm so used, but you're still so fresh.”
He knew it had something to do with Jack and he'd never hated the guy as much as he did at the moment.
Maybe he shouldn't have followed his second option but should've gone with the first and instead of arresting him, he should've trashed him till he was satisfied (which he'd never have been).
Knowing she needed comforting, he placed a hand at the back of her hair, pulling her to his chest where she began sobbing.
Gosh, he hated who turned her to this.
