Reil's car came to a halt in front of Sean's mansion, and she got out of it.

Friday had come really quickly as the week was filled with tons of business and other stressful things.

She was just really excited at the thought of meeting with Drix the next day.

They'd spoken every night and their relationship seemed to be getting better and less awkward each night since Sunday.

She walked into the mansion, returning the greetings offered by the workers in the house.

When she reached the parlor, she sighted Sean sitting on one of the couches with Finn on another couch beside his.

Sean was smiling as he played with Finn (if it could be called playing since Finn maintained a straight face and seemed uninterested by whatever Sean did).

They both turned at her sight, and Sean pulled his brows in askance.

“I'm here to meet Ivy.” She explained and he nodded. “Where's she?”

“At the rooftop.” He said, sounding like he wanted her to just leave him so he could continue whatever he did with Finn.

Reil started towards the stairs, but stopped to turn to Sean who'd gone back to smiling at Finn. “Dad.”

“Hmm.” He turned to her like she was an insect disturbing his sleep.

“Why's Ivy going to Australia tomorrow?” She had tried to think of what could make Ivy leave for Australia, but nothing came to mind.

Sean gave her a bewildered expression. “She's going to Australia?”

“You didn't know?” He didn't know? Why didn't Ivy let him know she was heading there?

He pulled his brows together, wrinkling his forehead. “No, I didn't.” And that seemed to annoy him.

Hopefully, she wasn't going to be the cause of an argument between the two.

She suddenly felt guilty for asking. Ivy obviously had a reason for not telling him.

“I'll go meet her then.” That felt like the best thing to do, which was what she did.

She left and headed to the rooftop, where Ivy sat on a chair with another one opposite it and separated by a table.

There was a cup of coffee on her side of the table and she just stared down at her phone.

Reil headed towards her and the sound of her heels must've caught her attention as she raised her head from her phone to stare at her.

“Reil.” She gave her a weak smile.

Reil studied her. Her hair was packed in a rough bun, and her eyes were swollen like she'd been crying, which even seemed more possible as she'd applied powder on her face.

Ivy rarely put on makeup, so the powder was an obvious trick to prevent others from realizing she'd cried.

Why had she cried? Now Reil began feeling more worried.

“Hey Ivy.” She didn't let the new knowledge be evident in her tone. She took a seat opposite Ivy. “So, how're you doing?”

Ivy let out a small shrug. “Same old. Want some coffee?”

Reil waved a hand of dismissal. How could she figure out why Ivy had cried? Did it have something to do with Sean? Or her?

“So… is there a reason you called?” She didn't want to go straight to the topic, but there seemed to be nothing else to talk about and she didn't fancy beating around the bush.

“Actually, I just wanted to apologize for how I behaved when I came to your house.”

Was that why she cried? Because she felt guilty or what? “It's okay, I've totally forgotten about it.”

“I shouldn't have spoken so harshly.” She continued like she hadn't even heard her.

“You didn't speak harshly,” Reil gave her a smile she hoped was convincing, “I understand, it's really okay.”

She nodded, but seemed like she still wanted to apologize more.

There was a few seconds of awkward silence and Reil couldn't help but not believe that Ivy had called just to apologize for that.

They'd had more arguments worse than that and they never did such— formal, or whatever this is called— apologies.

“Are you okay?” Reil asked, hoping she hadn't sounded too worried.

Ivy stared at her like she'd been caught committing a crime. “Of course, why'd you ask?”

“No reason.”

Reil was certain Ivy wouldn't tell her why she'd cried, no matter how she pestered, so she decided to not ask about it anymore, instead she changed the subject.

“Why're you going to Australia?”

Although Ivy smiled, Reil could see there was something hurting and it had something to do with the Australia trip.

“I just want a change of environment, so I'd be staying there just for like a vacation or something.” She took a sip of her coffee.

Reil wasn't a pinch of being convinced. “Why didn't you tell dad?”

Ivy shrugged, like she had a surprise for everyone and it lay in Australia. “I didn't think it was something important, and since Sean would be busy with work-related stuff starting tomorrow, I thought I'd use the chance to just head to Australia.”

She was talking about traveling to Australia like she was just heading to a friend's place in New York, not a different country.

And she still didn't give an answer as to why she hadn't told Sean.

“How long would you be gone for?”

“Three weeks.”

Three weeks. So she was heading to Australia for just three weeks. Why?

“Does Bale know about this?” She asked, not sure why she cared about Bale knowing.

Ivy told Bale almost everything (which was expected as he was her real child), so maybe he knew why she was going to Australia (not that he'd tell her).

She nodded. “He does. He'd be the one driving me to the airport tomorrow.”

“Okay.” There was nothing more to say.

She had no answer as to why Ivy had cried, or why she was heading to Australia.

She just hoped everything was alright and that nothing that shouldn't have happened had happened.
