“You seem to be in a good mood.” Sarah pointed out, bringing Reil to the realization that she had a smile plastered on her lips.
Sarah seemed contrary to that, but Reil didn't care to ask. She didn't want anything ruining her great mood.
After Drix had kissed her, her clothes had dried so she wore it then he drove her back home, and that was it.
But Reil had never felt happier. She felt her insides going all hoppy-jumpy.
Was this how it felt being in love? She wanted to squeal, really did, but realized it'd only make others think she was losing it.
She had spoken to Drix on Sunday where he'd asked how she was doing and they'd chatted some more.
Yep, she was certainly in love. Her entire body said that.
Again, she had to resist the urge to squeal.
“A penny for your thoughts.” Sarah sounded like she needed anything to get her mind off something.
Reil's smile became wider as she could feel the color rising to her cheeks.
“Girl, my thoughts' worth more than a penny.” She winked, but hoped Sarah would press more so she could let it all out.
Instead, Sarah cringed. “Does this have to do with Greg?”
Greg? She'd totally forgotten about the dude. He was certainly a reminder of what she'd done and she hated that fact.
His name was enough to annoy her.
“That bad?” Again, she didn't realize she was frowning till Sarah spoke.
She tried maintaining a straight face, but to no avail. “We broke up.”
Though Sarah wasn't smiling, it was evident in her eyes. She was happy they broke up?
“Why do you seem happy we broke up?” Reil asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
Sarah let out a small shrug, before a very little smile appeared on her lips. “Just… well, I think you could do much better than him.”
Yeah, and she certainly could.
Well, that much better had come to her life with way much better things.
Drix.
“I know.” She dropped her hands on her desk as she stared at her fixed nails. “Just wish I'd known that sooner.” She muttered, mainly just for her own hearing.
Which was true. If she'd found out sooner, she'd have broken up with him earlier and would probably not end up feeling so used.
“Who broke it off? And why?” Sarah took a seat opposite Reil, as she stared with what Reil assumed to be a desperate need of something to think about.
“I did, obviously.” As she'd said before, she couldn't let a guy break up with her. She did the break up.
“Why?”
Again, the color rose to her cheeks and Sarah seemed to have grabbed it immediately because she lifted her lips to a weak smile.
“And who's this lucky guy?” She seemed to have wanted to sound teasing, but it didn't come out that way.
Drix.
Drix was the lucky guy. But before she said that, her phone began vibrating.
She reached for it where it lay unmoving on the desk, a smile appeared on her lips when she saw who was calling.
She answered the call, placing the phone pressed against her cheeks.
“Hey.” Of course she just had to sound as shy as she felt.
Sarah excused herself and left, but Reil didn't care about Sarah at the moment.
Drix was her main focus.
“Hi.” His thick and muscular tone that had learned how to coat her skin with goosebumps, sounded in her ears.
Okay, she had to admit this was awkward.
She'd never been so shy to talk to her other boyfriends. Never cared about acting, but this was certainly weird.
“Would you be available this Saturday?” He asked, and again she felt her cheeks gaining color.
Duh. “Yeah, I will.”
“Okay, then can I come pick you up then we can head to my house and probably have something to eat or drink?”
She realized her face was aching from smiling so much, but she didn't bother stopping.
“Okay, see you then.”
She realized she was receiving another call and checking who it was, she was slightly surprised to see Ivy.
They hadn't talked since she left her house.
She placed the phone back to her ears. “Um, Drix, we'll talk later, I'm receiving another call, okay?”
“Okay.” Then he hung up and she answered the call.
“Hello.”
“Reil,” Ivy said in a soft tone, “are you busy?”
“I'm at work.” She didn't get why Ivy would want to talk to her.
“Oh.”
Oh? There had to be more.
“Is there a problem?”
She could see Ivy shaking her head, because that was what she did when she was calling, though the person couldn't see her.
“No, I just wanted to see you.”
“Why?”
Silence. “How about we meet on Saturday?”
She had somewhere to be on Saturday, but saying that sounded like she was avoiding meeting her.
“How about Sunday?” She said instead.
“I'm traveling to Australia by then.” Ivy said in a weak and possibly sad tone.
“You're traveling? Why?”
She sighed again, then muttered something Reil missed. “I just wish to do so. I want to be somewhere new.”
But Reil knew a hundred percent that it wasn't true.
“So can we meet Saturday?”
“Let's meet Friday evening.” She was not going to trade meeting Drix for what she could shift to any other day of the week.
Ivy sighed again for like the umpteenth time. “If you say so.”
Then she hung up, wondering what Ivy had to say and why exactly she was traveling to Australia.
What did she want to do?
