It had been a whole frustrating day since Reil left without a trace, leaving everyone worried.
He'd called her family who seemed surprised at first to see a guy asking for their daughter, but then when they realized she was missing, they became worried.
She hadn't gone home, neither did they know any close friends of hers that she could've gone to meet.
She wasn't at Sarah's either, though he wasn't sure if she was close to Sarah enough to stay at her place.
Still, she was missing and that was ruining him.
He'd called her a billion times but to no avail.
He wasn't going to waste his life on alcohol like he'd been doing for two weeks. He was determined to make Reil happy with him.
He was going to use everything in his power to find her and explain everything to her.
Hopefully, she'd understand things from his perspective and she'd give room for forgiveness.
It had only been two months since they'd dated, but he felt like his life depended on her.
He needed her, and knowing she was missing because of some mistake he made five years ago, broke him.
“Maybe if you'd told her sooner, she probably wouldn't have been as annoyed as she is.” Cherry said, not helping his situation.
“I didn't expect Zee to show up like that.” Which was true.
When she'd called to let him know she had a child, he'd paid her ten million dollars to not show up and she'd promised not to when she heard the amount.
It was stupid of him to think someone like her whose eyes were only on her bank account, wouldn't come back to haunt him.
He was still trying to process the fact he had a son. It didn't feel real, and he felt bad for the boy who wouldn't get a father's love.
He could try, but it just didn't feel right.
Would Reil ever forgive him? She was getting it all wrong and he knew he should've explained it before she left in the cab, but he didn't.
Why? Because he was a dimwit.
Maybe, just maybe, if he'd explained everything at that moment, her anger towards him wouldn't have been so severe.
He didn't even want to imagine how annoyed she was towards him.
“I'm going to explain myself to her.” He must not pick up another bottle of alcohol as, so far, it hadn't helped in any way.
He needed to find a better means of calming the stinging pain in his chest.
Bill sighed. “We know you will, but don't you think you need to get through to her first to do that?”
He winced at the ache in his chest. What had he done? “I'll find her.” He sounded far bolder than he felt.
Cherry shook her head, then continued her pacing back and forth her parlor.
He didn't like being the cause of her stress. After his father had caused so much stress to her, he'd promised himself to only make her happy.
But he clearly wasn't fulfilling that promise.
He sat up, feigning the boldness he wasn't close to feeling. “I'm going to find her, and I'll get her back. I don't want anyone worrying over me.”
Bill seemed to understand that he was doing it for Cherry, because he nodded. “We know you're going to do it.”
“Just don't stress yourself, and please have something to eat and drink, okay?” Cherry said.
He nodded, but wasn't sure if he'd be able to fulfill that promise. Food had been the last thing on his mind.
But he couldn't let his mom worry more than she already was.
He really needed to find Reil. He'd sent tons of guards to search for her, but it didn't seem enough.
Though it'd only been a day, he'd contacted more than half of her friends and neither seemed to know where she is or get through to her.
Shit. Why did Zee have to come at that moment?
She should've at least given him a heads up that she was paying him a visit.
She was in Dubai, so why the fuck did she decide it was best for her to fly from there to disturb his peace in New York.
He wouldn't give up on his search. She was bound to come back, right?
Her family were worried sick so she wouldn't leave them hanging, would she?
Sitting here with worried Cherry and Bill wouldn't help. He needed to go on his search and soon.
“Bill, you should be at work.” He said.
He hadn't been to work for two weeks and he felt slightly guilty for overworking Bill all the while, but what could he do?
Work was the least thing on his mind at the moment.
He needed to explain to Reil. Maybe he should give her a call again, then go search for her.
Bill sighed, then nodded. “I'll leave in an hour.”
Drix rose to his feet. “I guess I'll take a leave first then.”
Cherry sighed, her face wrinkling in worry. “Don't stress yourself, alright?”
“I won't.” After he knew Reil was safe and he explained himself to her.
