Drix's house was way bigger than hers. And it was exactly as she'd expected, just like he was.

She was surprised when he'd told her he had no maids. That meant he did the cooking and cleaning himself.

What?!

She was in a room, dressed in Drix's clothes. He'd given her a shirt and pants, but of course she wasn't wearing his huge pants.

His shirt was already knee length for her, so she didn't need the pants.

She drew in a deep breath, walking out of the room, to whatever direction she recalled that led to the living room.

He was sitting on one of the couches in his living room, and when he sighted her, he gave her a small smile, and signaled for her to sit beside him on the same couch.

What?!

He wanted them to sit beside each other? Well, who was she to argue with that?

She walked to sit beside him.

“Your cloth's in the dryer.” He explained and she just nodded, suddenly feeling shy.

“Thanks for the cloth.”

“No problem.” His smile was so charming, her heart felt like it was going to explode.

Then they both went silent. What do one do in the house of a guy you are certain you like?

Well, he saved her the trouble of thinking, because he asked a question she hadn't expected to hear.

“Have you ever thought about searching for your mom?”

She stared at him with a raised brow. “My mom?”

He nodded. “You ever thought about looking for her?”

She shook her head, staring at her laps where her fingers were intertwined.

“I don't want to know who she is, and I don't need to search for her.” Her voice was low and sounded unsure, and she was happy when he didn't ask any further questions.

Then, she recalled something he'd said when they were at the park.

“You said you've never gone to the park.” She raised her head to stare at him. “Is there a reason why?”

He didn't say anything for a while, before heaving a sigh. “You've let me in on your pasts, I think it's time for me to do the same.”

Past? She didn't think he'd have a juicy past.

“Haven't you ever wondered why I've never dated anyone?” He started and continued when she shook her head.

“Well, when I was younger, my father cheated on my mother with a girl named Priscilla.” He looked like it was something he wasn't happy about. “He claimed to love her so much that he left my mother and went to the Pricilia girl.

“He divorced my mother and gave everything he had to me.” He shook his head, “like, every single penny he had, he gave it to me just so he could go with some girl he loved.”

“Well, this Priscilla girl had this ex-boyfriend. I've forgotten, I don't know his name,” he shook his heS like he was trying to remember, but to no avail.

“But this ex-boyfriend loved Priscilla a lot and he said he couldn't leave without her so when he found out she had a boyfriend he was so frustrated.

“And then one day my dad and Priscilla were going out on a trip that was supposed to mean something about forever.

“While on the trip, they met with her ex-boyfriend who came out and said if he couldn't have her, no one could have her. Then he bought out a pistol that he had been holding and he was about to shoot Pricilia when my dad took the bullet for her and that's how he died.”

She let out a small gasp. That was sad and must've hurt a lot.

It felt like a movie or a book or something.

“Before he died, his last words were ‘Priscilla I love you’ and it didn't even talk about his wife or his child. He just said, ‘Priscilla, I love you’.”

“And the worst part of it all was that after he died, Priscilla said she couldn't live without him and went to commit suicide.” His expression read that he thought it was the dumbest thing in the world. “Like, I mean they just died because of love.”

“After the day I was told, I vowed to myself that I was never going to fall in love.”

That vow hit her hard in the chest and she fought the urge to wince.

She wasn't sure what to do, but she couldn't let him just ruin his life like that.

She wasn't going to do this because she wanted him. She was going to do it because she didn't want him to ruin his life.

She placed a hand on his, and his gaze traveled from her hand to her eyes and she held it.

“You're only looking at the down side of love.” She started, hoping she'd find the right words to say to him. “Love is actually really fun when you experience it.

“It's something worth whatever happens in the end. You've never experienced it, which is why you don't know what a beautiful thing it is.”

“Yes, it may weaken someone.” She continued, hoping not to sound too cheesy. “But it also has the power to strengthen you.”

“You shouldn't let your father's life affect your present and future. Your father might have cheated on your mother just because he fell in love with someone else, but you should fall in love with the one person you're sure you'd spend your life with.

“Because, that is how powerful love is. It'd make you want to spend the rest of your life with that person.”

How she was able to complete all those words with the way his eyes were causing the throbbing in her heart, she wasn't aware of.

Neither of them spoke a word. Neither of them broke the gaze.

Silence followed and she just registered that her hand was still on his.

She finally broke the gaze to her hand. “Oh sorry.” She could feel the color rising to her cheeks, which worsened when she withdrew her hand and he gently grabbed it midair.

Her breath seized, and her chest was rising and falling at an unexplainably fast rate.

Was she about to have a heart attack?

“Reil.” The way he called her name sent her heart on an even faster marathon.

She couldn't say anything because her mouth was unmoving, so she managed a “hmm.”

“I want to kiss you.”

Okay, if she'd said before that her heart felt like it was about to explode, now it had exploded.

He lifted the hand that wasn't holding hers, to her cheeks. Then, leaning closer, he pressed his lips against hers.

It was a soft and gentle kiss. The most gentle and genuine kiss she'd ever felt.

It spoke emotions. Tons of unexplainable emotions.

And the one she could register was ‘love’.
