Reil felt her figure stiffened by Greg's words. Why was he there?

She'd not spoken to him since they'd broken up so what was he doing there? Why did he have to come at the moment? And why the fuck would he call himself her boyfriend? In front of Drix!

She couldn't find herself staring at Drix to study his expression because at the moment, she could sense she was losing him.

His grip loosened on her hand and she felt her heart aching at the realization that Greg had come to ruin what had just come to her.

Again, what was he doing there? And how had he found her?

“E—” Drix was interrupted by the vibrations from his phone.

He left her hand to reach for his phone in the pocket of his pants, and her hand felt like something important had left it.

Was that going to be the last time they'd hold each other's hand?

They'd just started dating. How could this be happening?

He answered the call, placing the phone close to his ears.

She stared at him, but he was already backing her.

She could feel Greg staring at her, but she didn't want her gaze to shift from Drix, because it felt like if she did, she'd never see him again.

“Hello.” He said to the caller, silent for a few seconds as whoever was on the other line spoke, “really?” Silence. “Can't you contact Bill?” Silence, followed by a sigh. “Okay, I'll be there.”

Then he hung up and turned from her to Greg then back to her with an unreadable expression.

“I have to go to work, something came up.” He said, then stretched forth his hand that had the nylon of beers.

She wanted to say something to stop him or to clarify whatever Greg had caused. Instead, she found herself silently taking the nylon from him.

He stared at her for a moment longer like he wanted her to say something that'd stop him from leaving, but her mouth wouldn't open.

So, he turned and left.

Was that the last time she'd speak to him?

She stared at him till he was out of view, and felt the tears threatening to appear in her eyes.

“He's a weird dude.” Greg said from beside her, sounding oblivious of what he'd caused.

She turned to give him a death glare. “What the fuck was that?!” She demanded in a tone loud enough to catch the attention of those nearby.

Now her voice decided to work. She almost huffed.

He pulled his brows in bemusement. “What are you talking about?”

“Why did you think it was best to come here and introduce yourself as my fucking boyfriend?” She felt her blood boiling.

His perplexed look soon turned to a frown. “Because it's true.”

She clutched harder to the nylon, she was sure she was tearing holes into it. “Have you fucking forgotten that we broke up?”

He took a step back like the words hit him hard. “You weren't joking?” Though he sounded stern, she could detect the hint of pain in his tone.

She heaved a huge sigh to calm her fury, but it didn't work. “I told you it was fucking over. Why would you think I was joking?” It just didn't make sense.

He pulled his brows to a deep frown, dark shadows appearing under his eyes.

“You had to be joking. I've loved you for seven fucking years, you're not going to tell me you're breaking up with me and expect me to just accept it.”

Seven years? She'd known for just three years and they'd dated for two years do what was he saying?

But she didn't care about that. “Why would you say you're my boyfriend in front of Drix you asshole?!”

“Because I am!”

Gosh, her head hurt how they were just repeating the same thing they'd just talked about a few seconds back.

Then images of Drix appeared in her mind, how he'd walked away without turning, and she felt tears blurring her vision.

“If I wasn't clear before,” she said in a low tone staring at the floor so Greg wouldn't see her teary eyes, “let's break up.”

She turned to leave, but he grabbed her hand and drew her to him. “You can't just make the decision alone Reil, I have a say in this too.”

She stared at his eyes with her teary own and realized his eyes were watery too. The break-up had hurt him.

“Stop this shit and just move on. You don't want to act all clingy ex, do you?”

“You know you don't want this.” He said to her face.

At first she was confused, but realized he thought she was crying because the break-up hurt her also.

“I don't want Drix to leave me because he thinks we're together.” She clarified, and he must've understood because his hand left her wrist.

“This isn't right, Reil.” A drop of tear fell down his cheeks.

“Just forget about me, okay?” And she hoped he did.

Well, she didn't know Greg to be the clingy type, right?

She started walking farther from him, then pivoting, she left him standing in front of a convenience store alone, and probably crying.

Now she needed to talk to Drix and clarify a lot of things. She just hoped he wasn't very annoyed or wanted to break-up with her.
