Bale clenched his fist, ire flowing through his blood.

How could he have lost two companies to a lowlife like Reil? How the fuck did she do what he could not do in years?

He ran his hand through his hair, his breath getting shallow. He glared at the man on the other side of the desk. His eyes red in anger.

“You said it was impossible for her to get it.” He reminded. “How the fuck did she do it?!”

He slammed his hand on the desk, suddenly feeling uncomfortable sitting on the chair, but the man didn't flinch.

“I apologize sir, but it is almost impossible for her to have gotten it,” he started, “I did some research on how she did it, but there are no signs of formal meetings or benefits that could have been talked about.”

Bake pulled his brows together in a mixture of confusion and annoyance, his anger calming a little. “What do you mean?”

“Miss Sincol doesn't have as much business proposal to offer the Rendox company, so for her to have gotten the deal at such short notice is impossible, which leads us to one possibility.”

“Which is?”

Reil hadn't spoken to Greg since she'd left the hotel room a week before (not that she was missing him, she had many more men to keep her company). She just wanted to know if he'd decided to break up.

She hated men breaking up with her. She always liked to call the shots.

The car came to a halt, and she opened the passenger seat, closing it as soon as she was out of the car.

She turned to the driver who had also come out of the car.

Giving him a small smile, she said, “you should head back, I'd call you when I need to get back.”

He nodded, getting into the car and zooming off.

She sighed a little, turning and walking closer to the river.

Whenever she was stressed or sad or frustrated, she always went to the river at night.

The sound of the waves was always soothing to her.

It always made her think how different life would've been if things happened differently.

Like how would she have been if her mom hadn't given her to Sean and left for good.

Or how she'd have been if she didn't get distracted by men and was instead a businesswoman with so much skills.

Or how different things would've been if Sean and Ivy had hated her for the way she came to the world.

She was finally in front of the river. The waves traveling back and forth her leg.

Work had been really stressful, but she was going to do it. She was going to make the Elrey group a better company. Probably better than the Rendox company.

She hadn't been the CEO for up to a month and hadn't done much yet. Once the contract had been signed and it went out to the media that her company had joined hands with the Rendox Heix company, it'd certainly be a stock booster.

“Reil?” A familiar voice called from behind.

She pivoted, surprised to see Drix standing a few feet away from her. What was he doing there? She hadn't even heard his footsteps.

Drix was surprised to see her standing there. Why was she standing in front of a river at nine in the night? (Ignore the fact he was doing the same)

Her expression read surprise and perplexion. “Drix, what are you doing here? At nine p.m?” She sounded like she wasn't doing the same.

He took a few steps forward, hands in the pocket of his pants. “Actually, I come here sometimes.” He explained, surprising himself that he said that.

He didn't really let many people know about him coming out at night once in a while.

Whenever he was stressed about work or annoyed at his dad for leaving it all for him to handle at such a young age, he'd just walk to the river to stare at the waves and he'd feel better.

When he was coming he was confused to have seen a figure standing there. At first he thought she was going to jump into the waters, but then he realized she looked familiar and noticed her to be Reil.

“Why?” It was weird hearing her not speak seductively to him. She sounded like she thought they were both stuck in a pit with no way to escape.

He shrugged a little, staring down the waters. “I guess it's just a calming resort.”

From his side glance, he could see her purse her lips. “Yeah, it is.”

He turned to her as she stared straight ahead. “But why're you here?”

“Similar reason.” She sighed.

As they stood side by side, she was just a little bit shorter than he was as a result of her extremely high heels. He wondered how she walked in them.

He stared straight ahead too and they just stood in a comfortable silence. The waves were the only sound to be heard as it passed both legs.

After about ten minutes of staring in silence, they both decided to head back.

“So, do you feel better?” She asked as they both ambled slowly and at a similar pace.

He shrugged, hands still in his pocket. “I guess, do you?”

She nodded. “Always do whenever I come here. It's my lucky charm.”

He wanted to ask why she had come but didn't when she turned to him, a smile he knew too well planted on her face.

She stopped walking and he did so too. “Is there something wrong?” He asked, knowing fully well what she had in plan.

“You know… I think it's not a coincidence we met here today, handsome.” That flirting tone was back. He couldn't resist rolling his eyes.

He continued walking and she did the same. “Come on, think about it.” He was walking faster at that point and she seemed to be struggling to keep up.

“You come here exactly the same time I do. I think it's destiny.”

He didn't even know when he let out a small laugh, slowing down so she could walk at his pace. “Destiny? I didn't think you'd believe in that.”

She shrugged a little, the smile not leaving her face as she batted her lashes slowly. “I didn't until I met you.”

Though that line sounded like something she'd have told a billion more men, he couldn't help it causing his heart a little flutter.

He didn't let it show though as he hid it in the rolling of his eyes. “I thought you decided not to act all this flirty type.”

“Yeah, that's when we're working and as I see it, we're not at work at the moment handsome.”

He shook his head. This woman was something.

He just wished he wasn't so intrigued by her and didn't want to know so much about her.
