Lenny greeted Sarah and Reil good bye one last time before their cars zoomed off.

They had talked some more, mostly about the baby, before they left.

And as Lenny went back in and sat on the couch, she realized something.

That she was so quick to move on from a heartache.

Maybe it was because she'd experienced a lot of heartaches, so her brain had taken mental notes to move on once she liked another guy.

But this time she knew she wasn't wrong about Greg, right? She had said that for most of the guys she fell for.

But Greg was different, right?

Gosh this was frustrating. Because that was the same way she felt with her other boyfriends, but she'd ended with a heartache.

She thought about Bill and how obvious it was that he didn't like her.

How did she ignore the signs? He literally never came to visit her when she was stressed with what was happening with Angle.

He didn't even call.

She was happy he was with Sarah, since Sarah seemed happy to be with him.

She'd thought that when she talked about the both of them, she might feel annoyed, but she actually didn't feel that way.

Sarah was a really great person and deserved someone that'd make her happy, not a friend that'd try to take away her happiness.

She felt sleepy, and so went to her room, laid on her bed and went to sleep, thinking about Greg.

“Hey sleeping beauty, we're back.” Greg's voice cut into her sleep.

She felt a hand on her shoulder. “Wake up sweetheart, there's no prince available to kiss you to life.”

She groaned, squeezing her eyes as she tried to shift from his hand on her shoulder.

“Hey, wake up so we can eat.” He shook her shoulder more and she was forced to fully wake up from the sleep.

She opened her eyes to stare at him. “Do you seriously have to eat with me? Can't you just eat alone?”

He removed his hand from her shoulder then gave her one of his charming smiles. “Hey, we won't be a complete family without your presence.”

Her heart raced twice as fast with those words. Greg had been saying a lot of those words recently and she was certain he liked her.

She could not be mistaken this time.

“Sure, yeah.” She felt her cheeks burn and wished her hair wasn't flying all over her head so she could cover her cheeks.

She sat up, “so what're we eating?”

“I bought some food on my way back, so we could eat that.” He sat on the bed, opposite her.

“Where's Angle?”

“He's in the parlor, watching his favorite cartoon, Bluey or something.” He shrugged.

“Oh, okay.”

“You know, I was thinking, maybe we should eat out tomorrow.” He suggested, “I'll pay for it.”

“Duh.” She rolled her eyes playfully and he smiled. “You know,” she shifted closer to him, “I really want to thank you for all you've been doing for me since— ever.”

He smiled. “It was no problem.”

But she didn't see it like that. “If it wasn't for you,” she imagined different things, “it'd have been tough for me to take care of Angle alone.”

He shifted closer to her and took her hand in his. “Trust me when I say I'd do more as long as it's for you.”

She stared up at him, and he held her gaze causing her heart to race ten times faster. “Thanks.”

“You're a very special person to me and all you deserve is happiness.” He whispered to her, leaning closer. “And my goal is to give you that happiness.”

She couldn't form words as she felt his nose brush hers, and he was leaning closer, their lips only inches away.

Now, she was certain she wasn't imagining his feelings towards her.

She closed her eyes.

“Aunt Lenny, Uncle Greg, I'm hungry.” Angle's voice echoed into the room just when he was so close to kissing her.

He breathed in her cheek, before leaning apart, and she'd never felt so annoyed at someone stopping a kiss from taking place, as she opened her eyes.

Angle jumped on Greg's laps, a smile appearing on his lips. “Hey lil champ, you hungry, ain't you?”

She was so close to kissing him. She'd have been able to express all her feelings in the kiss if Angle had just come a minute later.

Greg turned to face her and the annoyance must've been evident in her face because he chuckled.

“Don't worry, we still have tons of time around us.” He laughed, then rose to his feet.

Again, she felt her cheeks burn at being caught annoyed, then she stared at the cute boy that'd caught them.

Angle seemed so oblivious of what he'd done and she couldn't help but smile at the innocence of the child.

She was thankful he'd become less shy, and more open to her, though he idolized Greg a lot.

She already took the small boy as a special person to her and it no longer annoyed her that Tom had left him in her hand.

He was a sweet boy, and she hoped he'd grow up to be a great kid.

And she also hoped Greg would be in their future.

“Let's go eat.” Greg said, then walked out with Angle. She rose to his feet and followed him, thinking about the almost kiss and what they'd have been doing if they'd kissed.
