Sean turned to her, a wide smile planted on his lips. She'd never seen him look so chuffed at something she'd say.

“Really?” He asked with an unwavering smile.

Bale sent Sean a choleric glance. “You're not going to give it to her, are you?” His eyes were shooting out lasers, like if his dad did give it to her, he'd run crazy.

Sean turned to him. “Why do you think I wouldn't?”

She shot her brother an exultant smile, earning an all too audible groan from his throat.

“She has no qualifications to take over the company dad, she'd ruin it.”

“I think it's nice she wants to finally take some responsibility.” Ivy said with a smile. “I don't think it'd harm anyone to try.”

“But then who do you think would pick up all the pieces when she ruins it all.”

“I wouldn't ruin the company Bale. I also have business in my blood.”

“Yeah, business in bed.” He snapped, infuriating her, though she knew better than to let it out.

“That's enough.” Sean said, a frown forming on his face.

“Dad, I don't think it's advisable to go on with this.”

Sean sighed. “I understand what you mean.” Turning to Reil, he continued, “I'm not just going to give her the company without her proving herself worthy of the position.”

She furrowed her brows a little. What was the use of all this drama? She'd summoned all courage to make this decision, now she had to prove herself worthy of it (though she knew fully well she wasn't).

“And what do I have to do?” She let her tone come out straight and not expressing her fear of not being up to the challenge.

“You'd be the CEO of Elrey distribution and sales, if you could get a deal with the Rendox Heix International Company.”

She still maintained a straight expression though her breath had been taken from her by those words.

Although she wasn't that much of the business type, she most certainly knew getting a deal with that company was close to impossible.

They rarely cracked deals with companies that weren't of higher position than theirs (which weren't many companies).

She saw Bale's slight and almost inexisting smile.

If there was one thing she hated, it was Bale getting the better of her. “I'd do it.”

Although the Elrey distribution and sales was the smallest of the five companies, she would do anything to get it.

Sean let out a relieved smile, like he'd thought she'd back out.

“Well,” he lifted his glass of wine on the table, “a toast to Reil finally willing to take responsibility.”

She slowly wrapped her fingers round the glass, smirking at Bale who returned it with a glare.

“Yeah, a toast.” She lifted her glass.

“And what was that about?” Bale finally asked when they were both alone. “You seem adamant on ruining the family's reputation.”

She let out a small shrug. “I guess I listened to your advice, I do need to start thinking about my future.”

He furrowed his brows. “Since when did you start listening to me?”

“Since when I realized I could actually be a threat to you.” She said it so carefree, she was sure he got his blood boiling (which was what gave her satisfaction).

He walked closer to her. “Back out now Reil, don't you dare try to get in the way of my business.”

It was meant to be a threat, but she was used to things like that not having an effect on her.

“Before, I didn't care about taking over any of the company,” she made sure her tone came out low and in disgust, “but now, I want to take over all five companies.”

Then she pivoted, walking out of his presence.

Bale walked into Sean's office without an invitation.

As expected, his dad was sitting on the couch buried in some papers he never wanted anyone to see.

Surprised by the sudden presence of Bale, he hurriedly arranged the papers together, laying them on the couch beside him.

“Why would you come in without knocking?” He sounded like he'd been caught stealing something valuable.

Bale ignored it, sauntering to him. “What was all that about?!” He demanded in a stern tone, his brows furrowed.

Sean let out a weary sigh.

“Why would you give her the company? She is nothing close to being qualified to take over even a doll, not to talk of the company that'd been working for years.”

“All she does in life is to smoke, drink, possibly use hard drugs…”

“That has not been confirmed.” Sean cut him off, seeming annoyed by the accusation.

He ignored that and decided to continue. “Always move from men to men…”

“Well, she has a stable boyfriend of I think two years.” He cut him off again, this time sounding a little too defensive.

“Have you seen the guy?” Bale was annoyed with where the conversation was heading. “He looks like a drug dealer.”

Sean just rolled his eyes. “Your point is?”

“She's never taken responsibility, dad. I worked my whole life since I was a child, just to ensure I'm worthy enough for the position and all she's done is to have sex, you can't just give her the company.”

“I'm not just giving her the company once she asked. You heard when I gave her the task to carry out. I gave her a really hard one to know her capability.”

Knowing the conversation would not end in his favor, he stormed out of the office.

***
Sitting on the desk in his office, Bale was certain he wouldn't be able to rest until he was certain Reil didn't get the deal.

“Ensure she doesn't succeed in joining hands with the Rendox.” He ordered one of his trusted workers.

“It's impossible sir, we've tried getting a deal with them for years now but they always dismiss us, she'd never be able to.”

That was enough assurance for him. She would not be able to get it and that, he was certain of.
