Greg heaved a huge sigh as thoughts of Reil came running through his mind like it'd done since she broke it off.

How did she end up falling for someone that she totally forgot who'd been there for her for a long time?

Lenny giggled from across the room, staring at something on her phone.

Lenny and Greg were practically best friends. They'd known each other since childhood as their parents were childhood friends so they were bound to bond.

As they grew older, Greg had tried to have a relationship other than friendship with Lenny, but then he realized that wasn't the type of girl she was.

She wasn't one he could just use and dump (like he'd done with every other girl he'd met, except Reil).

So he'd decided to just stay within the boundaries of friendship and it was best.

At least he had someone he could actually open up to and the fact she was also open made them feel comfortable within each other.

Her older brother, Tom, hadn't approved of their friendship as he'd said Greg wasn't a good influence on her, but that didn't mean they'd stop.

“You seem happy.” He let the fact that he was contrary to that emotion, evident in his tone.

She turned to stare at her, her hair swaying in that motion, as a smile was plastered on her lips, showing a flash of two white teeth.

“Oh yeah, I finally found a guy who loves me and I feel the same way for the guy.” She explained, her smile widening as she seemed to enter imagination mode.

He rolled his eyes. Hadn't she just cried about Drix breaking her heart a few weeks back?

Some people and their weird ability to move on quickly. He wished he was like that.

“Well, unfortunately for me, I was abandoned.” He said, the sadness sweeping past him.

Lenny let out a dramatic gasp, her hand flying to her chest. “Oh my, is it this Reil girl you wouldn't stop blabbing about?”

He suddenly wished he hadn't talked so much about Reil. Everytime he met Lenny, he always invited a conversation about her.

“And the worst part of it all,” he continued, “is that she left me for that Drix guy who broke your heart.”

She dropped her hands, then snickered. “Really?”

He nodded, pursing his lips.

“I can't believe this, you must be so pained. You seemed to love the chick too much.”

He nodded, because it was true. He loved Reil really much and her just leaving him like that hurt.

“So what're you going to do?” She asked, like the fact that the conversation involved Drix made her curious.

He shrugged. “I'm just going to try to forget her, I guess.” He said truthfully, and that hurt him more. “I mean, there's nothing else I can do.”

He had loved Reil for seven years, though she only acknowledged his presence after four years and they started dating a few months after.

“Gosh, fuck off with that idea.” She slammed her hand on the wooden chair beside her, startling him.

“What—”

“You aren't going to tell me that after you've loved her for four fucking years, you're just going to let her go to some dumb asshole she met some months back.”

He stared at her in surprise. “I mean, there's nothing else I can do. She already likes him.”

“If I like a guy, I'd try everything in my power to get him back.”

“You didn't do that in Drix's case.” And it'd have been better if she had so there wouldn't be a Drix in his and Reil's story.

She folded her arms across her chest. “That was because someone better came into my life.”

“That's good for you.” He didn't hide the sarcasm in his tone.

She glared at him, then her expression softened by only a tiny bit. “You're not getting me.” Although her tone was stern, he could detect the concern in it.

“What am I not getting? I don't want to act like some obsessed ex.” He admitted.

Although he liked Reil, begging or trying to win her over wouldn't stop her from loving Drix.

He could never get her and the more he understood that, the better it'd be for him.

“So are you just going to let her go?” Lenny's tone had softened and her face expressed her concern. “You've loved her too long to not fight for your love.”

His heart was yearning for Reil so he was willing to listen to whatever stuff Lenny had for him.

“So what do you think I should do?” His tone came out just above a whisper.

“You fight, Greg.” Her tone matched his. “You let her know how better than Drix you are, and how you're capable of treating her like the pretty princess she is.”

She said the ‘pretty princess' in a mocking tone as that was how he always described her.

“Do everything in your power to have her, and when you get her, you'll know how it's all worth it.” She gave him an encouraging smile.

He sniffed back his tears, though Lenny wouldn't judge him if he cried, they were each other's shoulder to cry on.

“I'll get Reil back.”

“That's my Greg.” Her smile widened. “I'm just thankful I don't have any girl fighting over Bill with me.”

She started blabbing about how hot Bill was and how he'd slept over at her place when he was drunk and how he caught her from falling.

“Gosh, my heart felt like it was going to explode at that moment.” She giggled.

“Lucky you.” He was going to listen to her advice and try his best to get Reil.

He had to, because he was certain he'd never fall in love again.
