Bale walked out of his room, heading to the parlor.

He was so annoyed Reil was acting business–like when she had nothing in her brains.

His dad was certainly not thinking straight to have given everything to her when she had no business sense.

Hopefully, after he found out the means at which she got the Rendox company to join hands with her, he'd give all the companies back to him.

The door to Trisha's room opened and she walked out of it, appearing in front of him which stopped his movement.

He furrowed his brows. “You're in my way.” His tone was stern as always.

She stared at him with those green eyes. “Are you going to work?”

It was weird that she was suddenly talking to him. They never talked in the house.

“I'm going to dad's.” He said, expecting her to make way for him to move but she still stood in front of him.

“Can you head to Finn's school before you head to Sean's?”

He drew his brows in confusion and annoyance.

What was she asking? It was her job to head to Finn's school. He never went to Finn's school.

“There's a parent-teacher meeting today.” She explained.

“And why would I go? It's your job to take care of whatever happens in his life. Why the fuck would you think I'd go?”

Her expression was unreadable and she stood unmoving, like a statue. “I got a call that my dad died today.”

“So?” How did that bother him?

“So, I have to be there for my sisters. They need me now, considering I'm the eldest and the only one they have left.”

Frustrated as to where the conversation was heading, he took two steps forward, now standing right in front of her only a few inches apart.

“I don't care if your dad is dead or your sisters are depressed,” he started in a thick and stern tone, “I made you and your father and sisters so you should perform your duty as a mother and never ask me something that stupid.”

Then, he walked past her, stopping when he sighted Finn strutting towards them, with a hard expression on.

He stopped a few steps away from Bale. “Dad, mom,”

Bale was sure Trisha had turned.

“Finn, were you eavesdropping on our conversation?” Bale asked in a very stern and low tone.

“No dad, I just happened to have heard you guys while passing.” Just like his father, he possessed a stern, business-like tone. “There's no need to come to my school. I wouldn't die if you guys don't come.”

Bale had no time for all the drama. He needed Reil out of the company, not some boring family story.

“Sort this out within yourselves, I'm off.” He walked past Finn, then left.

The dropping of the plates on the table in front of them, broke the silence that seemed like it would last forever.

“So, if I get you straight, you're telling me there's some kind of relationship Reil had with the CEO of the Rendox Heix company?” Sean asked after the maid had left.

“Yes.” Bale hadn't felt so exultant in a long time. It was about time Reil went down.

She'd seen what being a CEO was like so she should be happy and move on.

“Dad, she doesn't have the business brain.” He continued, trying to get Sean's sense working well, “she just got lucky. We can't let someone like her take over two companies.”

“Bale, what is your problem?” Sean asked in a soft tone, he wasn't sure if he should be annoyed.

“What do you mean?”

“You're thirty-four for Christ's sake, why are you acting like a four year old, reporting your younger sister for something that doesn't even require the drama you're putting into it?”

He was confused. Surprised. What was going on?

“Dad, how can you still leave the company with her after knowing all this?” He pulled his brows to a deep frown.

“Just stop it, will you?” His father snapped,  giving him a hard frown. “You have in your possession the three best companies I have worked for in my whole life, and I've given Reil, a Sincol also, two least companies because she did something neither of us have ever done.

“Who cares how she got the company, all that matters is that she had it. Why do you feel so threatened by her?”

Threatened was not the right word. Hatred was. He hated her and couldn't see her happy after how she'd made his mom unhappy for so many years.

“You don't know if she's dating him, dad.” He tried maintaining his composure though his entire body was burning in ire.

“And what if she is?”

“It could affect our reputation as people might say—”

“Aren't you supposed to be at work?” Sean cut him off, leaning against the couch.

Bale understood it was a signal of dismissal. “I'll take my leave then.”

Rising to his feet, he ambled out of the office though his body had full rage in it, but he was one known to hide his fury.

Outside the office, he sighted Ivy.

She stared at him, before letting out a long sigh. “How're you doing?”

“I'm good.”

She walked a few steps closer, his figure dwarfing her.

“Do you want to talk about it?” She asked in a soft tone.

That was just how she was. Always loving and forgiving.

Sometimes he hated that fact about her. Wished she could just cuss at Ivy sometimes, for coming to the world.

But other times, he liked that part of her. Always listening to him and letting him throw out all his rage.

“Okay.”

She was the only person he found himself not speaking in a stern tone towards. She was a great mom.

“Let's head to the rooftop.”

He shrugged a little. “I guess.”

They both walked side by side, heading to the rooftop.
