don't you notice how
i get quiet when there's no one else around?
me and you and awkward silence

Another weekend party, come and gone. Blood, confetti and frosting smeared the walls, a colorful work of abstract art, the product of yet another wasted night. Clown does his best to wipe it away, smearing red and white over the dull beige paint, the faint noises of wet paper towel scrubbed over drywall the only noise to punctuate the silence.
It felt awkward, especially since Clown wasn't alone today. Branzy was there, scrubbing alongside him, expression focused on removing every last splatter from his wall, grimy paper towel of his own in hand. He wanted to say something, start up a conversation, but nothing came to mind. So he closed his eyes again and went back to scrubbing, filling his ears with the sound to drown out Branzy's quiet.

don't you dare look at me that way
i don't need reminders of how you don't feel the same

But he looks up, wavy silver hair perfectly framing his face, as if to check on his progress. But his gaze catches Clown's instead, and it glitters in the synthetic lighting with emotions he cannot describe. But he knows that none of them are the one he truly wants to see, and so he looks away, unable to bear the contact any longer. Branzy looks away too, and it is silent once again.

oh, the burning pain
listening to you harp on 'bout some new soulmate
"she's so perfect," blah, blah, blah

"God, I could stare at her face all day..." Branzy rambles on, a dreamy look clouding his vibrant purple eyes. The same dazzling shade of violet Clown found himself lost in one too many times, just as Branzy was lost in the face of yet another girl. Another little needle embedded itself in his heart with every word he said, and he tried to drown it out, ignore it. But it didn't work, far from it, because it was Branzy who was talking.

oh, how I wish you'll wake up one day
run to me, confess your love, at least just let me say that-

"When I talk to you oh, Cupid walks right through
And shoots an arrow through my heart
And I sound like a loon, but don't you feel it too?
Confess I loved you from the start~"

The rest of the song falls on deaf ears to Clown. He's tempted to just shut off his car radio and keep driving, filling his head with the hum of the engine, but like every temptation, he has to give in. He can't help but think about Branzy- the way everything brightens when he steps into the room, the fluttering feeling he gets with just one look at his face, the musical tone of his every word. It's magic, it's torture, it's the song on the car radio, and it lasts far longer than 3 minutes.

what's a boy to do?
lying on my bed, staring into the blue
unrequited, terrifying

Clown scrolls through every message Branzy's sent him, fingers slowly dragging the scroll bar upwards as he reads. His gaze drifts lazily from message to message, squinting against the soft morning sun, rereading the words he's already seen a thousand times. It's hopeless to dwell, he knows, but he can't seem to help himself. He supposes that's what scares him most about it all.

love is driving me a bit insane
have to get this off my chest
i'm telling you today

He knows he can't keep doing this forever. At some point, he'll have to tell Branzy. The thought of it threatens to kill him, shatter him into a thousand bits of glass, but the pressure of keeping it in will kill him too.
> hey
> can i come over rq?
> gotta tell you sm
> branzy <3: sure

"That when I talk to you, oh, Cupid walks right through
And shoots an arrow through my heart
And I sound like a loon, but don't you feel it too?
Confess I loved you from the start~

Confess I loved you
Just thinking of you
I know I've loved you from the start..."

Clown lowers the mic in his shaky hand, allowing the karaoke music to fade out. Branzy stands just beside him, mouth agape, at a loss for words, and he can't bear to think of what words will come out of it in the next few moments. But what he hears is the last thing he expects:
"You know what, Clown? I think I love you too."
