Originally, I wasn't going to post anything this week because I was more focused on exploring our newly released Nation Nathlan, but you got lucky and I spent my morning with writing.
The dream clears off, bringing you back to reality. Everything is the same as before - the same hall, the same broken Scaramouche, the same friends you got separated from before.
Aether rushes towards you as soon as he spots you. "(Y/N), are you alright? When we entered the dream, you were just gone so-" Pausing his sentence, he takes a closer look at your face. "Are you crying? Did something happen?"
He lifts his right hand to wipe away the tears around your eyes, but you quickly beat him to it and wipe them away yourself. To reassure him, you offer an awkward smile. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Really. I just talked to Rukkhadevata and guess I got a bit emotional to the end..."
Paimon floats over to you two. "Who is Rukkhadevata?"
Taken aback, you blink a few times. Rukkhadevata was her name... right? Sure, you weren't great with names, but you are pretty certain that this is what she told you. And both Paimon and Aether should be familiar with her name, too. Maybe Paimon just forgot it as airheaded as she is sometimes? You look over to Aether who seems a bit confused as well.
Having thought about it, a smile makes its way to his lips and he places his hand on your shoulder. "She was nobody all too important, so don't worry about it." He leans a bit closer to your ear to quietly whisper something to you. "This person doesn't exist anymore and neither do most people remember her, so pretend you don't know her either. I will explain it later to you."
Paimon crosses her arms. "Hey! What are you two whispering about? Paimon wants to know too!"
Opening up your mouth to answer, nothing comes out of it. All out of the sudden, your vision becomes blurry and your body weak, causing you to collapse.
Both Paimon and Aether do the same. Only Nahida remains conscious.
Worried, the small goddess looks at the unmoving bodies around her.
The clacking of somebody else's footsteps can be heard coming closer. "Don't worry, they simply have passed out due to the sound wave that I have used. Once they wake up, they will be perfectly fine." It is everyone's favorite doctor Dottore. Even though the majority of his face is obscured by his mask, his smile gives away his amused mood.
Despite the notable difference in height, Nahida doesn't back away the slightest. "What brings you here, Doctor?"
"You know, I have been waiting to speak to you for a long time. So, you could say that I came here to negotiate - for the Gnoses. Even though I am not sure if negotiation is the right term for this. After all, you are rather weak in comparison to myself."
"That might be true, but I don't believe that you have the upper hand here. I am the one who possesses the Gnoses at the moment. It would be an easy task for me to destroy one of them which could potentially awaken Celestia. I am sure the Tsaritsa wouldn't want that."
He sighs. "Of course, of course. Relax. Neither the Electro nor the Dendro Gnoses are of any use to you at this point. So why don't you trade them in for something that is more useful?"
Nahida observes the Harbinger thoroughly. "I suppose you are right, at least about the Electro Gnosis. Keeping it here in Sumeru would be disastrous for the nation. But, I will decide the price for it. You have divided yourself in multiple segments, didn't you? Why don't you do the entirety of Teyvat a favor and erase every other segment other than yourself? If you do that, I will hand out the Gnosis to you."
"...What a hard bargain you're driving. Those segments have cost me an enormous amount of rare resources." He stares back at her. "But alright, I will destroy the other ones."
Barely having said that, other versions of Dottore all over Teyvat vanish one after another.
Sensing this, Nahida hands over the Electro Gnosis.
"Now to the Dendro Gnosis. As the Akasha Terminal will get shut down soon, you won't need it either. So why don't I tell you something interesting in exchange for it? You can choose between an information about the skies above Teyvat being fake or, if you have more interest in something like that, an information about (Y/N)'s existence as such."
The small girl looks over to you sleeping peacefully next to your blond friend and turns back to Dottore. "I would trade the Gnosis for the information about the skies of Teyvat."
He chuckles. "Oh really? I thought you would pick the other option."
"The first information seems to hold more general value and to be honest, whatever you might tell me about (Y/N), it will be more or less useless. The only thing I want for them is to live a peaceful life. Even if that means I have to distance myself from them..." The last part was said quieter with a saddened tone.
"Interesting. I wonder how you would behave around them if you weren't so young. Hm, I suppose we will never know as (Y/N) will be deceased until you have grown enough - or not, who knows." Dottore puts his right index finger on his lips, thinking. "You know, if you are so interested in the safety of (Y/N), why don't we make a third deal? I could ensure their safety - no harm will happen and no Vision-bearers will come close to them up until the day they naturally pass away. All you would have to do is to step aside and let me take (Y/N) with me to Snezhnaya. There I could keep up the promise."
Nahida doesn't move an inch and clutches the last Gnosis she possesses to demonstrate that her threat from before still stands. "No, that is out of the question. Regardless of what you might promise me, (Y/N) won't serve as the price. No matter how honest you are with your words, you will find one way or another to torture (Y/N) and make their life a living hell."
"What a pity. Here I thought I could get myself a nice little assistant. Maybe I even could have helped them to avoid their inevitable miserable end."
"I believed someone like you wouldn't have any peculiar interest in (Y/N)."
"Trust me, my interest in them isn't comparable to the Balladeer's. It is simple... curiosity. That's all."
"I am sure that's what Scaramouche thought at the beginning too."
"True, though our motivations should be different enough to not be comparable." He removes a strand of hair out of his face which is annoying him. "Anyway, since you aren't willing to bargain with me in regards to (Y/N) at the moment, I suppose we should come back to our previous deal..."
Do you know the moment when you decide to watch one last video before going to sleep and that video ends up being the most desturbing shít you have seen in a while?
